<br /> <br />ATTACHMENT B <br /> <br /> <br />Proposed Amendment to Section 1 of Draft Resolution Based Upon <br />Comments at the October 11, 2006 Council Meeting <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Section 1. <br />Based on the above findings, which are hereby adopted, the City Council hereby <br />approves and adopts Recommendation 1 of Section B of the SBI Task Force Report and <br />Recommendations to the Eugene City Council and Community of Eugene. The City <br />Council recognizes that it influences every aspect of business and job development <br />through its purchasing power, planning, permitting and development policies, incentives, <br />. The City Council commits to act as a role model for <br />tax policies and role modeling <br />the community and to assist in the development of the market for sustainable <br />products and services. To achieve these goals the City Council will make the use of <br />sustainable practices and sustainable products and services in its operations and <br />facilities a priority. The City Council also commits to assist private and non-profit <br />sectors of the community in educational efforts concerning the use of sustainable <br />practices and sustainable products and services. Further, the City Council will <br />cooperate with other public agencies to incorporate sustainable practices and the <br />use of sustainable products and services to achieve the long term outcomes in the <br />report prepared by the Sustainable Business Initiative Task Force Report as <br />accepted by the City Council on ______ October 2006. <br />It is intended that this <br />declaration by the City will spur the adoption of sustainable practices and the growth of <br />and non-profit sectors <br />sustainable industries within the private of the community. This <br />public commitment also makes it clear to City employees and other public agencies that <br />incorporating sustainability into planning, policy, permitting and all forms of decision <br />making is a priority of the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
