CONDEMNATION AUTHORITY <br /> <br />Local governments’ existing condemnation authority is rarely-used but important tool <br />that is available to cities and urban renewal districts to help achieve public policy goals <br />relating to transportation, housing, and economic development in particular. Limitation of <br />this authority could result in increased costs to the City and make it more difficult to <br />achieve important public policy goals. <br /> <br /> Recommendation: <br /> <br />1. Oppose legislation that restricts cities’ condemnation authority or makes more <br />difficult to use this authority to achieve public policy goals. <br /> <br />VI. PS <br />UBLIC AFETY <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />A. COURT <br /> <br /> <br />Municipal Court has a focus on ensuring that sanctions are enforced including collection of fines. <br />The court is also responsible for ensuring other sanctions are available such as work crews, <br />community service, jail and deferred prosecution programs. <br /> <br />1. FUNDING FOR COUNTY JAIL SPACE AND PROGRAMS <br /> <br />The City will oppose efforts to reduce local funding for jail facilities. The City supports <br />increases for jail programs, including road and work crews.
