Jerry Diethelm – Supported changing the name of Broadway Plaza to Kesey Square. <br /> 2. Mike Cetto – Supported exporting water to help the world and more shade around the city. <br /> 3. Stefan Strek – Encouraged the government to listen to citizens’ concerns. <br /> 4. Sue Sierralupé – Gave an update on Occupy Medical and requested handwashing stations. <br /> 5. Drix – Expressed pleasure about how supportive the Eugene community is. <br /> Council discussion: <br />Appreciate hearing all voices; public forums are very important. <br />Support handwashing stations downtown and renaming Broadway Plaza. <br />2. CONSENT CALENDAR <br />MOTION AND VOTE <br />: Councilor Zelenka, seconded by Councilor Clark, moved to <br />PASSED 7:0 <br />approve the items on the consent calendar. <br />3. PUBLIC FORUM UPDATES <br />City Manager’s Office Division Manager Mia Cariaga gave an update to council about <br />potential changes and additions to the public forum, including video recordings of testimony <br />as an additional way for people to be heard. <br />Council discussion: <br />Support video pilot program; videos should be made available to everyone. <br />Support limiting the number of speakers rather than reducing speaking time. <br />Analysis needed of the number of speakers per meeting; important to maintain <br />flexibility. <br />Public Forums are wonderful; bad idea to reduce people’s speaking time. <br />Support the idea of videos as a supplemental engagement option; public forums are <br />essential. <br />Support two-minute rounds for testimony. <br />MINUTES – Eugene City Council April 10, 2017 Page 3 <br /> Work Session and Meeting <br /> <br />
