Lev <br /> ,...-i <br /> Minutes of regular meeting of the Common Council held January 9, 1928, <br /> there being present Mayor A L Williamson and all members of the Council, except <br /> Washburne and Monroe, who were absent. <br /> Mee~ing called to order by the Mayor at 7;30 o'clock P.M. <br /> Minutes of the meeting.of.December 12 and December 28, 1927 approved. <br /> Fred Lindsay appeared and asked that water mains be installed on Washington <br /> Street from 13th Avenue South. Said matter was referred to the Health Committee <br /> and the City Recorder. <br /> - - <br /> As per the call, bids were received for the construction of a storm sewer <br /> on Washington Street from the Amazon to 20th Avenue, on 20th Avenue from <br /> Washington Street to Jefferson Street and on Jefferson Street from 20th Avenue <br /> to 22nd Avenue as follows: <br /> Oscar Snow ;jp 8956.20 <br /> Stien Bros 10267.00 <br /> Peter A Nelson 10009.90 <br /> Hargreaves and Lindsay 8674.60 <br /> Yunker, Wiecks & Co. 9337.90 <br /> Said bids were referred to the Sewer Committee for report and it recommende <br /> the bid of Hargreaves and Lindsay, of $8674.60 and, on ijl.otion, such recommend- <br /> ation was adopted and the Mayor and Recorder directed to enter into a contract <br /> with such successful bidder. <br /> As per the call, bids were received for the construction of a sanitary <br />I sewer along the East line of Block 6, from Fairmount Heights Boulevard to ~pring <br /> Boulevard as follows: <br /> Oscar Snow $838.85 <br /> Peter A Nelson 1Z42.22 <br /> Hargreaves and Lindsay 1012.80 <br /> Said bids were referred ,to the Swwer Committee for report and it recommend <br /> ed the bid of Peter A Nelson of $742.22 and, on motion, such recommendation was <br /> adopted and the Mayor and Recorder directed to enter into a contract with such <br /> successful bidder. <br /> As per the call, bids were received for the paving of the alley between <br /> Olive and Charnel ton Streets from Broadway to lOth Avenue as follows; <br /> Hargreaves and Lindsay $ 1227.35 <br /> Stien Bros. 1238.5'0 <br /> Oscar Snow 1309.85 <br /> Said bids were referred to the Street Comm~ttee for report and it recom- <br /> mended the bid of Hargreaves and Lindsay of $1227.35, and, on motion, such re- <br /> commendation was adopted and the Mayor and Recorder directed to enter into a <br /> contract with such successful bidder. <br /> Committee Reports were called for: <br /> Judiciary Committee:- <br /> The Judiciary Committee presented three ordinances <br /> restricting traffic on Streets through the University of Oregon Campus and <br /> said Ordinances were read the first time and referred back to the Judiciary <br /> Committee for further report. <br /> The Judiciary Committee presented the Meat Ordinance as amended and the <br /> same was read the third time, it having been read the first and second times at <br />I the meeting of December 12, .fu92~h: and December 28, 1928. The same was fully <br /> discussed by various butchers, farmers and by the g~ate Dairy and FOOd <br /> Commissioner, Mickle. Said Ordinance was placed on its final passage. The roll <br /> was called, all present voting aye, Absent and not voting Washburn and Monroe. <br /> The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 6557. <br /> Finance CommitGee:- <br /> The Finance Committee recommended the salary of A S <br /> Currie as traffic O~ficer be increased from $135.00 to $145.00 per month, <br /> co~nencing January 1st, 1928. On roll call, such recommendation was ~d~pted. <br /> ~ <br />
