<br />I Minutes of the adjourned meeting of the COf[lmon Council, held in the City ~
<br />, Hall, August,27, 1928, there bei~g ~resent May~r A. L. Williamson, and all ~
<br />members of the Council exce~t-McCully, who was absent.

<br />Meeting called to order at 7:30 o'clock P. IvI.,by the Mayor.
<br />
<br />A. C. Dickson of the Central Heating Company appeared on behalf of said
<br />Company, and made application that alch corporation be permitted to install
<br />heating pipes on t~e South side of Broadway from the alley between Willamette
<br />and Oak Streets West llO feet, and considerable discussion was had thereon as to
<br />the advisabilLtJl of granting such petition or compelling such Company to place
<br />its pipes either under the sidewalk or in the alley.between Bl"oadway and lOth
<br />Avenue. It was finally moved, seconded, and carried that such peti tion be
<br />granted permittin[~ the alying of such pipes under the pavement as petitioned
<br />for.

<br />The Samuel Furniture Company appeared stating it is to have a closing out
<br />sale, and asked permission to hang a cloth sign under its regualr sign in front
<br />of its place of business on West 7th Avenue, and after duscussion such matter was
<br />referre'[-to the Fire ani Water Committee, and the Chief of Police, giving them
<br />power to act in such rnatter. -

<br />Arnold (qollier, on b-ehalf of the children of Lt:we County, appeared and
<br />stated the children's club-s have alread-y:partia11y built a building at the Fair
<br />Grounds within the City without a permit, and aSked,p'ermission that such building
<br />be finished, and a permit eranted without charge. Suehre~uest was unanimously
<br />. granted. . . "'-

<br />As per the call, bids were opened for the construction of a Sanitary Sewer
<br />in the alley between 3id and 4th Avenues, from Polk street to the West City Limits
<br />as follows: o. .

<br />Such bi ds were referred to the Sewer C ommi ttee forcreport, and such
<br />Committee recommended the bid of Stien Bros. at $1,521.00 be accepted, and, on
<br />motion, such recommendation was adopted, and the Mayor and Recorder were instructe
<br />to enter into a contract with such successful bidder for the performance of
<br />- such improvement work.

<br />As per the call, bids were opened for the construction of a Sanittary Sewer
<br />in the alley be tween Hie;h and Mill Stree ts from 14th Avenue to 18th AveflUe in the
<br />Cit,y of Eue;ene, with lateral lines as follows:

<br />Such bids were referred to the Sewer Committee for ,report, and such
<br />Committee recommended the bid of Hargreaves and Lindsay, at $14,601.20 be accepted,
<br />and, on motion, such recommendation WG,S adopted, and the Mayor and. Recorder were
<br />instructed to enter into a contract with such s~ccessful bidder for the perfbrmanc
<br />of such improvement work.'
