On motion, such report was approved. <br /> Committee reports were calle'd for: - - <br /> The Judiciary, Street Health, Printing, and Police Committees had no reports <br /> to make. <br /> , <br /> The Finance Committee redommended that all bills as approved be allowed. <br /> On roll call, such recommendati'on was approved. <br /> The Finance Commi ttee rec ommencled~ the following estima te be paid. <br />I The estimate of Hargreaves and Lindsay for the improvement <br /> of Fifteenth Avenue from University Street to Agate Street <br /> by paving the same with concrete. $12,056.32. <br /> On Eo!l call such recommendation was app~oved. <br /> The Fire and Water COffimitt~e recommended the City ~ngineer investigate <br /> the matter of the need of fire hydrants in Rive~flood Addition, and that he report <br /> at the next meeting of the Council. <br /> Councilman Large stated the light s on the columns at the East City Entrance <br /> are out most of the time, and he is informed that the boys break the light s as 0 <br /> fast as they are installed, and the matter was discuss~d as to the advisability of <br /> discontinuing such service. Said matter was referred to the Fire and Water <br /> Committee for report. <br /> The Sewer Committee reported that work is now commenced on the sewer between <br /> Oak and Pearl Street, and will go forward from this time on. It also reported <br /> work is not yet started on the deepening of the Amazon West of town. <br /> The matter of the petition for a Police Patrol in the East end of town was <br /> discussed, but as no means has been found by the petitioners to finance the payment <br /> of such patrolman, no action was taken. <br /> The reports of the Library, the Buildi~g Inspector, and the Meat Inspector <br /> were pre sented and duly fi led. <br /> A petition was received from Mrs. S. D. Read, asking for a light in Kincaid <br /> Park at,the point were Sylvan Drive crosses tpe railroad track~ and also a <br /> petition was received from A. Ralph Gray and others for, a light on North Park <br /> Street, and also another petition w~s received, asking for a light at the inter- <br /> section of 9th and Jackson St~eet. All three of said petitions were referred to <br /> the Fir e and Wa ter C ommi t tee. <br />I ~he matter of discontinuing the service of electric l~ghts and the t.6ade I' <br /> at the Avia ti on Field, was taken up and di scussed. The matter of the upkeep of <br />, the Rest Room at such point was also discussed. It was decided that the whole <br /> ma tterbe refer red to the Park Board far a report a t the next meeting of tae <br /> C cuncil. <br /> There having been filed at the ,preceding m~eting qf the Common Council, al <br /> protest to the paving of 1st Avenue between Van Buren Street and J.l.1adison Street, <br /> the matter was again brought before the Gouncil. ihe original Ordinance for the <br /> I ~ <br /> I. <br />~--- - <br />
