<br />order by Mayor Willi:,mson, and it appearinG that there was not a Quorum present,
<br />on motion, it was ordered that the Council adjourn to meet December 26, 1928, at
<br />7:30 o'clock P. M.

<br />COLillcil met pursuant to adjournment of December 24, 1928, and was called to
<br />order by IvIayor Vi illiomson. There were 'pre se'nt C oUnci lmen V/ashburne, Large, Lamb
<br />McCully, Monroe, and Reid; absent, Courlcilmen Rugh and Hendershott.
<br />
<br />Mr Lindsay called the attention of the CouncIl to the condition of the Storm
<br />Sewer at 15th and Washington Streets' intersection, as not properly t,aking care of
<br />surface livater, causing the same to overflovi into the basement of an adjacent
<br />house. The i11a.tter was referred to the City Engineer for investigation and report
<br />at the next Council meeting.
<br />
<br />Mr. Washburne reported for the Fire & Water Committee, a:.:recommendation as.
<br />to installation of water hydrants in Sunset Terrace Addition, and moved that one,
<br />two, or three new hydrants be installed in this Addition under the direction of the
<br />Engineer and Fire Dept?.rtment at such points as they direct. Motion was seconded
<br />and carried.

<br />The following b,ids for the construction of a sanitary Sewer on the East side
<br />of Potter Street from 24th Avenue toc22nd Avenue, under Ordinance No. 7331, were
<br />read:

<br />Said bids were referr"ed to the Sei'ver Committee, and after consideration
<br />thereof, the Sewer Committee reported that the bid of K. L. Hall for said
<br />constructi on Vfas the lowest andbest bi d, snd the motion was made, seconded and
<br />cal"ried that the contract for.t,he construction of said sewer be awarded to K. L.
<br />Hall in accordance with the terms of his bid, subject to entering upon prope~
<br />contract and furnishing bond therefor:

<br />Bids for the constr'uction of a Storm Sewer on the East side of Adams Street
<br />between 12th and 13th Avenues, as provided by Resolution of December 10, 1928, were
<br />opened and. read as follows:

<br />thereof, said Committee reported th!:...t the lowest and best bid for the construction
<br />of said :::>torm Sewer was ,that of K. L. Hall, whereupon, a" motion was [!ride, seconded
<br />and carried, that the contract for the constru.ction of said sewer be awarded to
<br />K. L. Hall in accordance with his bid, subject to the entering upon proper contrac
<br />and furnishing proper bond the r-efor.

<br />City Attorney S. M. Calkins, recommended that the claim of Bertha Near for
<br />injuries received on the Streets of the City of Eugene be settled by IB.yment to
<br />her, the sum o~ $60.00, which she has agreed to accepts in settlement of her cfuaim,
<br />ancl t hat a war ran t be drawn in he I' favor for s ai d sUin, and tha t the City Ree order
<br />bi 11 the Central Rea ting Co. for the same a aunt, it appearing tha t the accident
<br />was c211sed by failure of said Compnay to properly protect the excavation made by
<br />them. A motion was made, seconded and carrie d to adopt the report of the Ci ty
<br />Attorney.

<br />Mr. Calkins was granted until the next meeting of the Council to report
<br />regarding the Rar'mon taxes.
<br />
<br />The matter of the Reed claims was continued for consideration until the next
<br />
<br />me e t ing of the C ounc il.
