Wilder~ There were present all members of the Council <br />except Washburne. <br /> <br />The Finance Committee recommended that the Bond of the' National Surety <br />Co. for Fred. Wentworth, Treasurer, by approved. On motion such recommendation <br />was duly adopted. <br /> <br />The requa st of Pastmaster D. E. Yoran for the. privilege. of at.taching <br />mail boxes to lamp posts at the following points, <br /> <br />\X;. <br /> <br />!~l~ <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br />T-. <br /> <br />7th and Oli.ve, <br />8th and Olive, <br />9 th and Olive, <br />7 th and Oak, <br />8th and Pearl, <br />9th and. Pearl, <br /> <br />and. concrete posts for mail boxes at the following points: <br /> <br />10th and Oliwe, <br />10th and Oak, <br />17th and Orchard, <br />22nd and Onyx, <br />23rd. and. Alde 1', <br />17th and. Hilyard, <br />19 th and Willame tte , <br /> <br />17th and. Jefferson, <br />4th and Polk, <br />6th and Almaden, <br />1st and Adams, <br />2nd and Van Buren, <br />14th and University, <br />11th and Pearl. <br /> <br />was, on motion of' the Street Committee, granted. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Street Committee reported favorably on the petition for the bridge <br />over the Amazon on Waspington Street, and the City Engineer was directed to <br />. proceed with the making of plans an9. specifications. . <br /> <br />On 1i"ecommendation of the Street Committee, the City Eng.ineer was authorized <br />to-take' up with the Oregon Electric Railway Co., the matter of filling fun on the <br />pavement with a black top surface to bring'up the low places in the pavement from <br />Blair Street West. <br /> <br />On motion of the Fire & Water Comfnittee, it was ordered that the extra <br />men of the Fire Department be discontinued on February 1, 1929. <br /> <br />.... <br /> <br />The Fire & Water Committee also recommended that the City draw pay checks <br />to :b'ire Chief Nusbaum for monthly salary, with the understanding' that he snall <br />return to the City the compensation which he is to receive from the State Indus- <br />trial Accident Commission. ::;)uch recommendation was approved. <br /> <br />~he Fire & Water Committee also recommended that inasmuch as it appears <br />necessary to secure locations on private :property to provide suitable location <br />for hydrant s in Sunset Terrace Additi on, that the property owners be required to <br />gi ve easement deeds to the Ci ty for sufficien t space before the hydrants are in- <br />st.alled. Such rec ommendat ion was ado pt ed. <br /> <br />The Health Committee reported that they had employed a plumber to repair <br />a leak at the Rest Cottage. <br /> <br />The Sewer Comilli ttee recommended that the peti tion for a sewer on Washing- <br />ton Street from 22nd to 23rd Avenues be denied. Such recommendation was, on <br />motion, adopted. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Police Committee. reported that 56 stop signs, estimated cost at <br />$70.00, various parking signs, estimated cost at $450.00 pa~ing buttons, etc., <br />would be nece ssary and that such items be purcha sed and installe d. Moti on was <br />made, seconded, and carried to adopt the report. <br /> <br />The recommendation o~ the Police Committee relating to the employment of <br />Police Officers and adjustment of s~ale of wages was rea(l, and laid over for <br />fur ther .
