<br />The request of the Central Heating Co. to install an additional fuel
<br />oil ,storage tank adjacent to the ,present tank on Mill Street between 4th and 5th
<br />Avenues was, on motion granted.
<br />
<br />A petition for the paving of an alley between Olive and Charnelton
<br />Street from 16th to 17th Avenues was referred to the Street Committee.

<br />An Ordinance ordering a special election to be held on the 2'1th
<br />day of May, 1929, was read the first time, and passed its second and third read-
<br />ings by titl.e by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule, and was placed
<br />on its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all present voting aye,
<br />nay, none. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 7340.

<br />An Ordinance regulating the keeping of livestock within the City of
<br />Eugene, was read the first time, and passed its second and third readings by
<br />t it Ie by unanimous consent uncle I' su spension of' the rule, and was placed on its
<br />final passage. The aye s and nays were called, all present vo ti ng aye, my,
<br />none. The Ordinance was decbred passed and numbered 7041.

<br />on April 8, 1929, and registered notices for protest having been se,nt, and no
<br />prote st s be ing recei ved, said ordi.cmances were read the second ti me, andpassed
<br />their third reading by ti tIe by unanimous consent under suspensi on of the rule,
<br />and were placed on their final passage. The aya sand naSs were called, all

<br />Councilman Monroe brought up the matter or paving requirements of the
<br />Cit.v- 01' .l.!;ugene, and the possibility of maintaining desirable prices through
<br />competitive processes, and a general discussion or the merits of concrete and
<br />bitulithic pavement followed, with representatives or the ~tandard Oil Co. and
<br />vvar ren Bro s. Co. ap pear ing be1'ore the Council in a di scussibn 01' the black top
<br />pa ve men t.

<br />Chairman Lamb of the, i:Jtreet Committee recommended a raise of' ;:,plO.OO
<br />per month to ail employees of the ~treet Department in the employment of the
<br />City for a period of two years or more be given. The Council not being ready to
<br />accept the recommendation at this time, it was withdrawn. Mr. Lamb then moved
<br />that Claude Jackson be placed on the pay roll at a salary of ~lD5.00 per month,
<br />commencing April 1, 1929. The motion was seconded, and the ayes and nays called,
<br />all present voting aye, nay, none, absent and not voting, ~imon.
<br />
<br />Motion was also made and seconded, that the salary 01' B. H. Parker,
<br />Park Superintendent, be changed to ;;ji125.00 per month, commencing May 1, 1929.
