<br />An Ordinance reassessing the p!~ving ahutting on a certai,p, tract on
<br />11th Avenue West between Tyler Street and'Chalubers Street, and fixing a time
<br />and place for the hearing 01' objections, was read the first time, and passed
<br />its second and third readings by title by unanimous consent under suspension of
<br />the rule, and was placed on its final passage. The ayes and nays were called,

<br />Ordinance was declared passed, and numbered 7362.

<br />The Recorder reported that the City was startin€; a foreclosure against
<br />a tract 01' land assessed in the name of Lane County, which tract lies in the
<br />line of Tyler Street, and tha t . the County had expressed a willingness to deed
<br />this land to the City for Street purposes in settlement of this lien. The
<br />mattel~ was rei'erred to City Attorney Cal]c.Lns to acquire a deed from the County.

<br />The .Recorder reported the commu1!lica ti ons of the Howard-C ooper C orpor-
<br />atlon reciting the damage which occurred to the f'ire apparatus in transit, the
<br />company reporting that the apparatus had been returned to the factory for re.pair.

<br />The Recorder als 0 reported the c ollecti on from the Postal Telegraph-
<br />Cable Co. 01' $2,50.00, representing the amount due the City under the franchise
<br />1'or the years 1920 to 19~9, also that he had requested the Company to place this
<br />1.ee on their rel:;ords as a 1'ixed charge with the request it be remi tteC1. to the
<br />City Treasurer annually.

<br />The :t'."esignation of Emma F. Waterman as a member of the Eu..gene Play-
<br />ground Commission was read, and Mayor Wilcler ~p'ppointed Mrs. S. C. Pursley as her
<br />successor, and the appointment was, on motion duly coni' irma d by the Council.
<br />
<br />City Engineer Clubb reported that he had com'erred with a government
<br />man interested in the development 01' Aviation, and had received the impression
<br />from him, that it would be necessary to erect boundary lights arOUl1rm the
<br />Aviation Field before the mail plates would be able to use the Eugene Field for
<br />a reglilar landing Field, and that the stiitlated cost of this installation would
<br />be in the neghborhood of $G400.00. The Council was not ready to take final
<br />action on this matter, but a motion was made, and seconded that the Council go
<br />on record as faIToring the installation of the boundary light s, a t the earliest
<br />practicalbe time.
