<br />. by title by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule;, and was placed'on
<br /> its final IRssage. The ayes and nays were called, all present vo ting aye;
<br /> nay, none; absent and not voting, Washburne. The Ordinance was declared passed,
<br /> ~ and numbered 7543.

<br /> Six sidewalk assessment Ordinances, having been read the first time on
<br /> August 12th, 1929, and registered notices for protest having been sent, and now
<br /> no protests being received, said ordinances were read the second time, and. passed
<br /> thei,!' third readings by ti tle by unan imous consen t under suspension of the rule,
<br /> and were placed on their final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all
<br /> present voting aye; nay, none; absen~ and not voting, Washburne. The Ordinances
<br /> were declared passed, and numbered oonsecutively from 7544, to 7549, both
<br /> numbers inclusive.
<br /> .An Ordinance accepting and ratifying the acceptance of the bid of
<br /> Stien Bros. for the improvement of Second Avenue from the West line of Blair
<br /> Boulevard to the West City Limits, by paving the same with warrenite paving,
<br /> was read the first time, and passed its second. and third readings by title
<br /> by unanimous consent under w spensi on of the rule:, and was placed on it, s final
<br /> passage. The ayes and nays were called, all present voting aye; nay, none;
<br /> absent and not voting, Washburne.- The Ordinance was declared passed, and
<br /> numb ered 7550. .
<br /> The Recorder stated that Miss Delin, Assistant in the Rec'order's office,
<br /> had entered a resignation, and asked permission to fill the vacancy, which was
<br /> authorized by the Council.
<br />I A deed was tendered the City, executed by Jane F. Holloway, at temtping to
<br /> convey to the crtya described tract in Fairmount, for street purposes, and the
<br /> matter was referred to the Street Committee and City Engineer to determine whethe
<br /> - or not the City should accept the deed.
<br /> .
<br /> ,Mr. T. L. Billingsley, representing the Southern Pacific M~or Transport
<br /> Co. appeared before the Council, and explained tha t they had made mreful survey
<br /> of the suggested bus route to give transportation to the people living in the Nort -
<br /> west part of the City, and that the Company found it would not be possible to
<br /> produce a sufficient revenue from this service to mee~tthe cost of operation, and
<br />\ at thep.resent time it was not practicable, and could only result in a financial
<br /> loss to the Transport Company.
<br /> - The City Attorney was instruc ted to take up with Mr. A. R. Gray the
<br />,
<br /> proposed exchange of properties on Indiana Street, and to make the necessary deed
<br /> of c on veyanc e , if the exchange can be made.
