Amendment, entitled; { r;J ~ /:) , AN AC T Referx'ed by the Common Council of the City of Eugene to the legal voters of said city, authorizing the common council of the City of Eugene to levy a tax in excess of the six per cent limitation upon the city's tax levy, each ~ear for five years, commencing with the levy for 1929, to produce annually $2p,OOO.00, for the purpose of retiring interest warrants of said city, and creating a fund to be known as "Interest Warrant Fund. 'T The foregoing resolution and proposed charter amendment were filed in the office of the City Recorder on the 9th day of September, 1929 . The following are the form and numbers in which the Q.uestion will be sub- mitted to the electors upon the official ballot. PROPOSED BY RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL AND REFERRED TO THE ELECTORS. PROPOSAL TO EXCEED THE SIX PER CENT LIMITATION UPON THE CITY'S TAX LEVY, FOR FIVE YEARS, FOR THE RETIREMENT OF INTEREST WARRANTS Shall the Common Council of the City of Eugene be specifically authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to exceed the six per cent constitutional limitation upon the city's tax levy, each year, for five lears, and be author- ized to levy taxes to produce in each year not to exceed $25,000.00 in excess of such limitation, for the purpose of retiring interest warrants heretofore or hereafter issued by said city, Said fund to be used for no other purpose. Referred by the Common Counci I of the Ci ty of Eugene to the legal voters of said c~ty, authorizing the cOrnmon council of the City of Eugene to levy a tax in excess of the six per cent limitation upon the city's tax levy, each ~ear, for five years, commencing with the levy for 1929, to produce annually 25,000.00 for the purpose of retiring interest warrants of said city, and creating a fund to be known as IIInterestWarrant Fund." THE CITY OF EUG1~E DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: I Be it enacted by the legal voters of the City of Eugene: Section 1: - The Common Council of the Cit y of .B..ligene is hereby authorized and empowered, each year, for five years, commencing with the levy made in 1929, to levy, assess and collect taxes, upon all of the t,axable property of the City of E'ugene, which shall produce annually $25000.00 for the purpose of creating a fund. to 'be known as "Interest Warrant Fund" and to be applied to the payment of interest warrants heretofore and hereafter issued by the City of Eugene. I Section 2: The approval of this amendment by a majority of the legal vo ters, voting upon the Q.uestion, shall constitute a specific authorization to the Common Council of the City of Eugene, in each year, for five years, commenc- ing with the levy made in 1929, to exceed in each year the six per cent constitu- tional limitation upon the city's tax levy, and said tax levy hereby authorized shall be in addi tion to all other taxes which may be levied in said ci ty accord- ing to law. Section 3: This authori za ti on shall be exerci sed ih the di scre ti on of the Common Council in raising any sum not in excess of $25,000.00, which the '~
