Report of Finance Committee.
To the Ron. Ma~{or and Cornmon Council:
Your Finance Committee has careful}.l,r considered the matter of submitting
to the people a proposed relief tax .measure, and has given studied attention to
the report submitted by Mr. Tour toll e t t e:. a c c oun t an t . While there is much ground
for submitting to the voters a measure providing for the larger amount sugge sted I
i in his report, namely $43,500.00, your committee believes that it would be
I:
I'
" difficul t to secure the passage of an amendment for so large a sum.
"
:1 We believe relief from the present cielinq, uent int erest situation is Impera-
ti ve, and that the amount pro po sed by the resolution heretofore adopted by the
Council, name l,y :;p25, 000.00, is more likely to recei ve the approval of the voters,
and that if this measure is adopted, and along with it a careful consideration of
budget req, uirements is exercised, and a continued and. consistent effort made to
collect delinq, uent assessments, a long stiep forward in the solution of this
problem wi 11 be accompli shed.
VIe I' ec omme nd that the resolution as now on file be submitted at a special
,
,
i' election to be called at an early date.
