<br />a~ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, <br />I.larch 24, 1930. <br /> <br />Council met pursuant to adjournment of March 10, 1930. There were present <br />the Mayor and all members of the Council except Large and Monroe. <br /> <br />~ . <br /> <br />Mr. Charles Warnock appeared before' the Council relating an instance of <br />radi 0 in te rfer em e and asked e nforceme nt of the ordi nance. He was a ssured that, <br />he would have the cooperation of the Building Inspector in enforcement of the <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />The Judiciary Committee reported that they had investigated the method of <br />charging for the electrical inspection, and that while the car charges seemed <br />high the Water Board had adopted this schedule of fees and it seemed that the <br />City would have to pa,y- accordingly, unless some other arrangement can be effected <br />to eliminate the car cha~ges. <br /> <br />Bills of S. M. Calkins for $45.00, cash advanced to pay for briefs in the <br />. Keeney appeal to the Supreme Court, of Percy W. Brown for auditing $250.00, and <br />bill of Milton :M. Miller of the United States Public Health Service for $30.00, <br />cut and allowed for the sum of $20.00, were considered, and motion was made and <br />seconded to allow the same. The ayes and nays were called, Councilmen voting <br />aye, five, nay Reid, absent Large and Monroe. <br /> <br />As per the call, the following bia.s were received for sidewalk construc ti on: <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 7749 <br /> <br />Jorgenson <br />Nelson <br />Snow <br />Glenwood Sand & Gravel Co. <br /> <br />$4&.76 <br />50.10 <br />46.76 <br />45.09 - approved <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 7750 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Jorgenson <br />Nelson <br />Snow <br />Glenwood Sand & Gravel Co. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 7751 <br /> <br />$46 . 7 6 <br />50.10 <br />4&.76 <br />45.09 - approved <br /> <br />Jorgenson <br />Nelson <br />Snow <br />Glenwood Sand & Gravel Co. <br /> <br />$46.76 <br />50.10 <br />46.76 <br />45.09 - approved <br /> <br />Said bids were referred to the Street Committee for report, and it recommended <br />those bids be accepted after which the word lIapprovedll is written as to each <br />Ordinance Number. On motion, such report was approved. <br /> <br />Mr. Hendershott of the finance commi ttee submi tted the report of Audi tor <br />Percy ~. Brown, and a motion was made, seconded, and carried to adopt the report. <br /> <br />Chairman Lamb of the Street Committee recommended that while the petition <br />for grading and graveling 24th Avenue 'between Emerald and Agate Street s did not <br />contain the majority of propert.jT owners that in the opinion of the street committe <br />the improvement was necessary and reco~nended that the petition be granted. A <br />mo tion was made and se c onded to adopt, the re commenda ti on. Councilmen vo t ing aye, <br />five~ nay, Zumwalt, absent Large and .donroe. <br /> <br />The Street C01M1ittee also recommended that the City purchase a standard ford <br />coupe Vii thout the spare wheel at a price of 4jJ644.63. Llotion was made and second- <br />ed to adl') pt the recolTllnendati on. The ayes and nays were called, all c ounc ilmen <br />-voting aye, nay, none, absent Large and l:ionroe. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Reports of the Building Inspector, Hobi Airways Company, and the Eugene <br />Public Librar.j' Board were placed on file. <br /> <br />The City Recorder reported that the assessment against Lot 5, Block 5, <br />Fairmount Heigh ts had been err one Gusly asse ssed in Apri 1 1927 in the name of the <br />Ci ty of Eugene, that said 10 tactually sto od in the name of I\Irs. Mary H. J ewi t t , <br />and that she had paid the amount in full assessed against an adjoining lot at the <br />time the asse ssment was fnade and tha t she had forwarded her check in the sum of <br />$520.85 immediately UJlon advice of the outstanding' assessment, being the original <br />amoilllt assessed against said lot.
