<br />11' <br /> <br />~ <br />47 <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />To the Membe~s of the Common Council of the City of Eugene. <br />You and each of you a~e he~eby notified that I have and do he~eby call <br />a special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Eugene to be held at <br />Council Chambers in the City Hall on Monday, 1m~ch 2nd, 1931, at 5 o'clock P. <br />M. fo~ the purpose of considering plans and approp~iation of money to assist <br />in re 1ieving the pre sent unemployment si tua ti on in the City of Eugene. <br /> <br />~ <br />,~~J <br /> <br />Dated this ~brch 2nd, 1931. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />H. E. Wi1de~, <br />Mayor. <br /> <br />Council Chambers, Eugene, O~egon, <br />March 2nd, 1931. <br /> <br />Council met at 5 o'clock P. M. pursuant to the above call of the Mayo~; <br />Present Cou~cilmen Edwards, Lamb, Reid, Lamb, and Bond; Notified but not present, <br />Councilmen Simon and Hendershott; Absent on leave, Zumwalt. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor stated the purpose for which the meeting had been called, and <br />Miss Anan of the Red Cross and Mr. Carl G. Washburne stated the p~esent condition <br />of unemployment and after due discussion a motion was ma~e, seconded, and carried <br />that the Council authorize an expenditure not to exceed ~2500 on various City <br />p~ojects unde~ the di~ection of the City Engineer fo~ t,he ~elief of unemployed <br />persons within the City of Eugene, and that City Enginee~ Clubb be inst~ucted to <br />take cha~ge of the situation and di~ect the placing and handling of men,and the <br />wo~k to be done and keep a ~eco~d.of the time and compensa~ion. <br /> <br />It was moved and seconded that the City T~easure~ be -autho~ized to t~ansfer <br />f~om the Gene~al Emergency Fund to th~ Revolving Fund the sum of $500, and that <br />-he shall issue checks against this fund in favo~ of the employees upon the pay <br />rolls fu~nished by the City Enginee~, and that as this wor~ is being done in <br />conjunction with the Red C~oss that the checks on this pay~oll shall be delive~- <br />ed to Miss Anan of the Red C~oss to enable the Red C~oss to make deliveries of <br />the wages and collect advances. Motion car~ied. <br /> <br />On motion, the Council adjourned. <br /> <br />R. S.
