<br />Street Committee reported on the conditio~ of assessments against Miami
<br />Lane and Hollaway and Reed properties and McKy Court. The matter was continued
<br />in the hands of a committee.

<br />As Chairman of the Fire and Water Committee Mr. Hendershott recommonded
<br />that the committee purchase one-half dozen fire hydrants from Veltum & Clow, and

<br />and Potter Street and another at the place where twenty-fourth Avenue East would

<br />WHEREAS, great amounts of money are involved in public works and adminstration
<br />of one character or another involving matters of importance to the health, safety
<br />and well-being of the population, and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, in co,nsequence, great savings in money and greater efficiency in admin-
<br />istration of ~ublic affairs would certainly be accomplished if the administration
<br />of Oregon Cities and t~vns were provided with ~xpert service and advice, and by
<br />the provision of facilIties for research in mu~icipal problems, and

<br />of <Eugene1, do and does hereby petition the Sta~e Board of Higher Education of the
<br />Sta1ie of uregon ,that it appropriate the SUm of. fif'te~n thousand dollars per year
<br />for the creation of a Bureau of Municipal ResearCh and Service in ,the School of.
<br />Applied Social Science at the'University of Or~gon at Eugene~ Be it further

<br />RESOL~D, that the Director of the Bureau of Minicipal R~search and Service, in
<br />addition to ca,rrying on research and giving co.q.sultation and advice to the admin-
<br />ist'rators of O.regon cities, shall act as secre~ary to the League of Oregon Cities,
<br />assuming all of the duties and ~nctions apper~aining to that office. And be it

<br />RESOLVED, that the services and benefits of th~ Bureau of Munlcpal Research and
