<br /> , As per the call, bids were received for paving the alley between Thir-
<br /> teenth Avenue and Fourteenth Avenue from Hilyard to Alder Street, as follows:

<br /> . ' Said bids were referred to the City ~ngineer, and upon report of the
<br /> City Engineer the Street Committee reco~nended that the bid of Nels T. Jorgensen
<br /> is the lowest and best bid and that said bid be accepted, and on motion such
<br /> recommendation was adopted, and the Mayor and Recorder instructed to enter into
<br /> a contract wi th such ,successful bidder. 0

<br /> The Judiciary Committee, by Chairmill1 Edwards, reported adversely on the
<br /> proposed ordinance regulating and licensingepainters, paper hangers, etc. Motion
<br /> was made, seconded, and carried to adopt the report and indefinitely postpone
<br /> the ordl nance. 0
<br /> The Finance Commi ttee, by Chairman Large, recommended t.ha t some old
<br /> assessments at West 11th Avenue and Almaden'Street, originally made under the
<br /> zoning system, should be reassessed under the abutting property rule, and t,he
<br /> matter was referred to the City Attorney to prepare proper ordinance.
<br /> Chairman Large of the finance committee re'ported the following bills
<br /> to the council with the recownendation that'they be allowed, and motion was made
<br /> and seconded that warrants be drawn for the 'same. The ayes and nays were called,
<br /> I all councilmen present voting aye, nay, none, absent Simon.
