<br />E. Wilder wi th all Councilmen present, except Councilmen Simon and Hendershott. "':":

<br />Mr. Robert Fischer Jr. appeared before the Council in behalf of the Centr 1 :;':"
<br />Labor Organization and asked that the City land its support to the construction
<br />of the filtration plant, and that it urge the Eugene Water Board to 'provide for
<br />the construction of the same by day labor instead of contract. He was advised
<br />that while the matter would have the moral support of the City that the Council
<br />had no control over the Eugene Water Board, and that any such arrangement would
<br />have to be made with them. 0

<br />At this' time Councilmen Simon and Hendersho tt appeared in Council.
<br />
<br />John Bell, President of the Lane County Abstract Company, asked the
<br />.. Council to reconvey to Laura B. Paine the South 50 feet of Lot 15 in Block 1 of
<br />Hendrick's Amended Addition to Eugene, as platted and recorded, and it appearing
<br />that Laura B. Paine has been making her payments to the ci ty 'regularly tor ban-
<br />crofted assessments. and that she had inadvertently been misled into the failure
<br />to pay the taxes. The motion was made, seconded, and carried that upon the pay-
<br />ment to the City of the State, City, and County taxes, thro~h which the city ac-
<br />quIred this property at tax collector's sale, amounting 1:;:0 -1P164.63 together with
<br />in€erest thereon at 6% from May 9, 1931, and that the city reconvey said property
<br />to 'said Laura B. Paine, subject however to'all unpaid liens and assessments due
<br />the ci ty, and tha t the :Mayor and Recorder be authorized t~o execu te said deed.

<br />Ci ty Attorney Calkins called attelltion to the operat.ion of a device for
<br />flying instruction in the vacant lot opposite the Miner BuildingCand to various
<br />c oaiplaints which he had recei ve d rela ting to the noi se and annoyance to the occupa
<br />in'theQbuildings in the iWfiediate neighborhood, and Judge L. T. Harris personally
<br />pr~sented the objections of the occupants ~f the Miner Building to this disturbanc .

<br />o As per the call, bids were opened <for the paving of ChulaVi sta Boulevard
<br />1 fr~m Indiana Avenue to ~ line 227.4 feet North of Indiana Avenue as follows:

<br />Said bids were referred to the street Gommittee and City .b!ngineer for report, and
<br />after due consideration Chairman Lamb of tne Street Committee recommended the bid
<br />of.'Oscar Snow at $947.90 be accepted. On motion such report was adopted and the
<br />~fuyor and Recorder were instructed to enter into a contract with the successful
<br />bidder for such improvement work. 0 0

<br />, The Judiciary Committee, by Chairman Edwards, recommended that the con-
<br />sideration of the injury to the boy who was playing on tne cable of the Butte
<br />radio pole be referred to City Attorney Calkins to take up witn the boy and his
<br />parents.
<br />
<br />The Judiciary Co~nittee, by Chairman Edwards, filed a written report on
<br />. the subject of noi se made by trucks of the 'Consolidated Freight Lines loading and
<br />unloading on Charnelton Street, which recited the general condition as to noises
<br />in this neighborhood and assured the residents that every possible precaution
<br />would be taken to prevent unnecessary nois~s, and on motion th~s <report was adopte .

<br />Mr. Large, Chairman of the Finance' Committee,' recommended tb the city
<br />that they purchase from the State Treasu.re~ the following bonds:
