<br />I Mr. 'Reid, representing the Oregon Motor' Stages, requested permission to
<br />re~route some of the 'bus line:s wi thin the ci ty. On motion, the matter was re-
<br />ferred back to the Judiciary "Commi t tee and City Attorney.
<br />
<br />Chief Hall recommended the appointment of Clarence D. Quinn as a regular
<br />patrolman on t;he Police Department. Motion was made, seconded, and carried that
<br />Mr. Q.u.inn be :placed on- the payroll a t' a salary of $125.00 per month, commencing
<br />November 17th, and that his salary warrant be drawn when other salary warrants
<br />are drawn. The ayes and nays were called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, none,
<br />absent Lamb.

<br />Report;s of Hobi Airways Company for the month of September and the Eugene-'
<br />PuhllcLibrarJ' for October were read and filed.

<br />A written request of the Planning Commission that the Council equip a roo
<br />I for their use in the upper story of the City Hall, supported by Louis Borde, who
<br />appeared personally before the Council, was referred to the Fire and v'later
<br />Committee.

<br />Requeflt of Amanda Rainey for hotel permit at 8th and Willamette Sts.,
<br />approved by Chief Hall, was on motion granted.

<br />Petitions of Central Grange No. 360, The Willing Workers Club of Central,
<br />and of the Four Oaks Grange No. 528 to make West 11th and West 6th Avenues stop
<br />streets were read and placed on file.

<br />I An offer of the Sanborn Map Company to sell a copy for $110.00, wi th the
<br />I request of the Building Inspector's Department that it be purchased for them,
<br />was read and laid over.
<br />
<br />The pr.oposed contract between the City of Eugene and the Eugene Sand and I
<br />i Gravel Co. for purchase of 9.68 acnes at outlet of trunk sewer was continued in
<br />j the hands of the Sewer Committee for further consideration.

<br />The RE,corder reporte d. that all Ci ty employees had agree d to gi ve one
<br />days salary each month for five months for unemployment purposes, and a motion
<br />was made, seconded, and carried that the Recorder be authorized to draw a warrant
<br />each month fOl~ the amount of their contribution payable to the Lane County Relief
<br />and Unemployment Bureau, and deduct the same from their salaries.

<br />An Ordinance levying assessments for paving Chula Vista Boulevard from
<br />the North line of Indiana Avenue to a line 227.4 feet north of Indiana Avenue,
<br />in the City of Wugene, Lane younty, Oregon, was read the first time and laid over.

<br />An Or(linance permitting the operation of golf courses, tennis courts and
<br />bowling alleYB, and the playing of tennis, golf and bowling in the City of Eugene
<br />on Sunday, repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith,
<br />I and declaring an emergency, was read the first time and laid over.

<br />! A cOffiJInlnication to the :n.iayor and C01Ulcil, by F. M. Wilkins, stating that
<br />I five men had been employed at different jobs on roads and parks and asking that
<br />I arrangements be made to pay them, was read and no action taken.
