<br />The application of Johnnie DeMoss for license to operate Silver Spray
<br />dance hall at No. 24 West 7th St. was referred t:o the Council 'without the approval
<br />of the Chief of Police. A motion was made, seconded, and carried to refuse the
<br />application.
<br />
<br />Reports of Hobi Airways Co. for the Inonths of October and November with
<br />turnovers of $12.13 and $9.44 as Oi ty' s percentage for the respective months
<br />were read and filed.
<br />
<br />A letter from Frederick D. Stricker, State Health Officer, approving the
<br />Elliott tract for City Dump Ground was read. Mr. Zumwalt, Chairman, of the
<br />Health Committee moved, that the City buy this tract under its option, and that
<br />. the Ci ty Recorder he authorized to iss1fle a warrant on the General. Fund, payable
<br />out of the 1932,budget, in the sum, of SJ;1,000.00, under direction of the Cit,y
<br />Attorney, and upon his approval of the necessary conveyances and releases to
<br />establish title in the Ci ty. The moti on was sec onded, and the ayes and nays were
<br />called, councilmen voting aye, six, nay, none, absent Large and Reid. Motion
<br />carried. ,

<br />A letter from City Attorney Calkins was read, advising the Council of
<br />its right to apply the, rece'ipts from unbonded ,liens to the payment of interest
<br />on outstanding District Improvement Warrants, and a motion was made, seconded
<br />and.carried instructing the City Treasurer to pay interest on these warrants
<br />from such funds in his hands.

<br />. An Ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 1048, enti tIed. trAn Ordinance to
<br />provide for the time of establishing the sinkingf'und provided for by ordinance
<br />No. 1027'r was read and passed its second and third readings hy ti tIe under sus-
<br />pension of the rule, and was placed upon its final passage, councilmen voting .

<br /><' passed and numbered 8282.

<br />I An Ordinance adopting for the City of Eugene, Oregon, the 1930 Edition of
<br />- the Pacific Coast Conference Uniform Building Code, was read and passed its.
<br />:;lecond and third readings by title under suspension of the rule and was placed
<br />l,lpon its final passage, Councilmen voting aye, six, nay, none, absent Councilmen
<br />~arge and Reid. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8283'!

<br />: A report from the unemployment Relief Co~ittee,of the Charity Chest was
<br />~ransmitted to the Council by Mayor Wilder, Committee Member, reciting an alloca-
<br />tion and present distribution on Dec. lOth of $600.00 for use in City. Mayor
<br />Wilder 'stated that the employees under the relief plan are under State Compensa-
<br />tion and that the full contribution to the State to cover them is to be taken
<br />from the unemployment fund.
<br />
<br />: The question as to whether the City should cooperate with the Water
<br />~oard in construct ion of fence and walls for tennis court on the Butte reservoir
<br />.. :s an unemployment project was discusse4 and on motion rejected.
<br />
<br />, Mayor Wilder suggested that the City pay for the wood cut in Hendricks
<br />p'ark by unemployment crew, and the proceeds be turned into the unemployment fund.
<br />~To action was taken at this time~ <
<br />
<br />. C. E. Shumway asked t,hat the Licensed,Plumbers receive protection from
<br />~he operation of ,unlicensed plumbers, working" out of a licensed shop, on the
<br />pretext that they are working for the Licensee. He was assured that protection
<br />would be af:forded upon proof and sufficient evidence.
