<br />Minutes of the adjourned meeting of the Common Council, held at the hour
<br />of 7:30 o'C;lock P. M., March 28th. 1932. Council was called to order by Mayor E.
<br />. Large with all councilmen present.

<br />1'Lr. A.. G. Brauer complained to the council about the manner in which the
<br />men employed by the Water Board had t.rimmed the trees in front of his property.
<br />
<br />Mr. C. H. Fowler stated that his stop street signs had been installed
<br />for some time, and if the counci 1 regarded them wi th favor, he would be glad to
<br />receive 'an order for installation of other signs.
<br />

<br />Chairman Hendershott of the Finance Committee recommended that the Record
<br />er advertise for bids to audi t the books for 1931. On motion, it was so ordered.
<br />
<br />Chairman Zumwalt of the Health Committee recommended that the old barn
<br />on the city lot East of the Edison School be torn down, and on motion the Health
<br />Commi ttee was authori zed to di spose of thi s building accordi ng to their judgment.
<br />
<br />The application of Louise E. Strait for a rooming house permit at 88 West
<br />8th Street was returned by the Chief of Police without his approval. Motion was
<br />made, seconded, and carried tha t the application be laid on the table.
<br />
<br />The Judiciary Committee and City Attorney reported adversely on the
<br />request of the people of Oakridge to license an illnbulance in the name of the City
<br />of Eugene, and the report was on motion approved.

<br />The City Attorney recommended, in regard to the application of Mr. Morse
<br />for a partial foreclosure against property at 11th and Almaden Sts., that the
<br />foreclosure should be made when and if of benefit to the City of Eugene. The
<br />report was filed.
<br />
<br />City Attorney Ca~kins recommended that the excess payment of $27.10
<br />against a part of Lot 2 in Block 24 Fairmount Addition, originally 'paid by Ray
<br />Jewel, and this property is now owned by Clara Beitel, and that said sum be paid
<br />to her by the Treasurer out of the Improvement Bond Sinking Fund. Motion was made
<br />and seconded to adopt the\,report, and the ayes and nays were called, all council-
<br />me n voting aye, nay, none.

<br />Recorder reported that he had purchased at the Sheriff's Tax Sale of 1~rc
<br />26th a number of pieces of property, to which the Ci ty holds ti tIe, and on motion
<br />this proceeding was approved, and Recorder authorized to draw on the revo~ving
<br />fund to pay for the deeds when turned over by the Sheriff.

<br />Applications of the Union Service Stations Inc. to install a 2800 gallon
<br />gasoline tank on Lot 7, Block 17, at the corner of 11th and Willamette Streets,
<br />was referred to the Fire and Water Committee.
<br />
<br />1~yor Large requested the Judiciary and Fire and Water Committees to act
<br />with the City Attorney in preparing a general ordinance regulating installation of
<br />gasoline storage tanks.

<br />An Ordinance providing for the form and denominations of $3500.00 Sewer
<br />Bonds, 1926, of the City of Eugene, was read the first time, and passed its second
<br />and third readings by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule and was
<br />placed upon its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all councilmen vot~
<br />ing aye, nay, none. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8288.

<br />:Motion was made, seconded, and carried instru'cting the Mayor and Recorder
<br />to accept from the Eugene Sand and Gravel Company a deed to the property at the
<br />outlet of the trunk sewer, upon approval of the City Attorney, and to deliver in
<br />exchange and as the purchase price thereof to said Company the $3500.00 Sewer Bond ,
<br />1,.926; It also being understood that said company is to 'pay the City the sum of
<br />;;!l50.00 for abstract title insurance.

<br />The bill of the Associated International Detectives, W. L. Priest, Manage,
<br />was presented f(!])r payment, endorsed by all three members of the Police Committee
<br />and O. K.' d by Counci lmen Hendersho tt and Zumwal t of the Finance Commi ttee. Motio
<br />was made and seconded that the bill be allowed and the Recorder ins truc ted to draw
<br />a warrant for $200.00 to the Associated International Detectives and ~20.00 to
<br />Geo. A. Simon, to be drawn on the general fund and charged to the emergency accoun
<br />of the Police Dept., the total sum of $220.00 to be in full settlement of the
<br />account. The ayes and nays were called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, none.

<br />Two sidewall\: assessme'nt ordinances, having been read the first time on
<br />:March 14th, 1932, and registered notices for protests having been sent, are read
<br />the second time and objections called for and none heard, and on motion the ordin-
<br />ances were read the third time under suspension of the rule and were placed on
<br />their final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all Councilmen voting aye,
<br />nay, none. The Ordinances were declared pa ssed and numbered 8289 and 8290.
