Weber living near Sutherlin, waij' <br />presented to the Council by the Recorder. It was referred to the Health Committee <br />and City Attorney. <br /> <br />A petition of Harry B. Yocom for the repair of Agate Street South from 24th <br />Avenue to the C1 ty Limi t s, was referred to th e S tree t C ommi t tee. <br /> <br />The bond of the Oregon Conference of Seventh Day Adventists, executed by C. F. <br />Hyde and A. L. Dale, guaranteeing the removal of said, tabernacle at the end of one <br />year, was accepted by motion duly made, se.conded and carried. <br /> <br />Recorder reported a permit from the Oregon State Game Commission to hold game <br />in the City Parks for the current year. <br /> <br />Application of Lillie E. Rogers for a hotel permit at 623 Willamette Street, <br />O.K. 'd by Chief Bergman, was on mo ti on granted. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A proposal of the Eugene Abstract and Title Company, to furnish copies of <br />daily transfers at $10.00 per month, was referred to the Finance Committee with <br />power to act. <br /> <br />Statement of the annual dues to the National Conference on City Planning for <br />Wm. C. Clubb, in the ~sum of $10.00 was on motion, laid on the table. <br /> <br />The claim of C. D. Farmer, in the sum of $9.80, for window screens, screen <br />doors and hardware installed at the caretaker's house, and paid for by him, was <br />considered by the Council. Councilman Lamb moved that they allow the claim in the <br />amount of $8.80. Motion was seconded and the ayes and nays were called, Council- <br />men voting aye: Lamb, Hendershott, and Reid, Nay: Simon, Bond and Edwards, absent <br />Zumw~lt and Scobert. The Mayor decided a tie vote by voting nay. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />A communication from the l;lunicipal Service Bureau showing the amounts paid by <br />other c it ie s fOl:' t he support of thi s servi ce was read, and mo ti on was made and <br />seconded that the City of Eugene contribute the sum of $100.00 to the support of <br />this service. The ayes and nays were called, Councilmen voting, aye, six, nay, <br />none, absent two. <br /> <br />A resolution addressed to the Pacific States Telephone and Telegraph Company, <br />petitioning for the right to use both free and pay call stations for the purpose <br />of the emergency of Police and Fire Department calls, was read and, on motion <br />adopted. Following is the resolution: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />Whereas, The Pacific States Telephone and Telegraph Company operates within <br />I <br />the City of 1ugene, Oregon, by virtue of a franchise granted to it by said City, <br /> <br />and which franchise by ita terms continues until August 1943, and <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Whereas, under said franchise Section 10 reserves to the City the right to use <br />its poles, conduits and system for the installation of alarm systems for Police and <br />Fire protection purposes; but which the said City under present financial conditions <br /> <br />is not now able to utilize, and which it may be unable to avail of for some years to <br /> <br />come, and <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />vVhereas, it is the spirit and intent of such pUblic franchises granted by <br />municipalities, that the grantee shall recognize and lend support to matters within <br /> <br />the scope of its considered activities and expansion, vitally affecting the <br /> <br />" <br />': <br /> <br />~ <br />
