<br />Minutes of the regular monthly meeting- of the Common Cmuncil, held at the
<br />hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M., February 13, 1934. Council was called to order by
<br />Mayor Large, with all Councilmen present.
<br />
<br />Minutes of the regular meeting of Hanuary 8, and the ad~ourned meeting
<br />of January 22, 1934 were read andapproved.
<br />
<br />Attorney Donald Husband again called to the attention of the Council the
<br />request of certain Plumbers for a reduction of the Plumber's Lioense fee and
<br />extension of the license fee to cover retailers of plumbing supplies. This matter
<br />was continued in the hands of the Sewer Committee for report.
<br />
<br />, C. A. Wintermeier, Attorney, presented a petition of residents in the
<br />vicinity of Lots 3 and 4 of Mountain View Park, asking that the ditch that was
<br />dug'from Onyx: Street Southeasterly past 25th Street be converted into a storm
<br />sewer line if any money is available for that purpose. The petition was referred
<br />to the Sewer Committee and Engineer.
<br />
<br />Attorney Gordon Wells stated that the City Treasurer had, several years
<br />before, issued a certificate that there were no Ci ty liens against the portion of
<br />the South 100 feet of Lot 4, Block 1, Chambers Addition, and that it had developed
<br />that there were liens for paving in the sum of $58.47 and for sidewalk in the
<br />sum of $36.66. He asked the City to-remit the accrued interest on these assess-
<br />ments. Motion was made and seconded that the same be remitted and the^ayes and
<br />nays were called, Councilmen voting aye, 8, nay, none. The motion was carried.

<br />Mr. Wells also presented the objection of Mr. Willis Ghamberlain to the
<br />, further raising of the grade of East Broadway on the West side of the Southern
<br />Ii Pacific right of way, and was advised that the City had communicated with the
<br />Ii Southern Pacific Company requesting that the grade at this point be allowed to
<br />!;! remain as planned without the further raising, and that if the Company conceded
<br />this his client would be satisfied.

<br />Mr. Wells also presented applications for State Liquor Licenses to the
<br />City Council for approval. The Recorder was instructed to receive and hold
<br />liquor applications, collecting the fee of $5.00 in advance on all applications,
<br />and to communicate with the State Liquor Commission to determine its position
<br />with reference to the City's investigation of applications, and that if the
<br />Commission requested this investigation b~ the ci ty, the Recorder should refer all
<br />applications on which the advance fee of '5.00 had been paid, to the Police
<br />Committee for investigation and report to the Council.

<br />The Finance Committee by Chairman Hendershott recommended that the City
<br />pay $25.00 per month as one-half of the rental of the Yates Hotel for transient
<br />refief, and a motion was made and seconded that for the months of January, February,
<br />:March, and April the Recorder be instructed to draw a warrant on the Relief Fund
<br />for $25.00 in favor of F. L. Chambers. The ayes and nays were'called, Councilmen
<br />voting aye, 8, nay, none.

<br />The Finance Committee, by Chairman Hendershott, reported the following
<br />bills to the Council with a recommendation that they be allowed, and motion was
<br />made, seconded and carried that warrants be d~awn for same. The ayes and nays
<br />were called, Councilmen voting aye, 8, nay, none.
