<br /> The request of the Salvation Army for a donation from the City, together " .

<br /> for funds, were presented to the Council, and no action was taken. (~
<br /> Communication from the Western Box Company asking for some improvement of ~~
<br /> First Ave. from Blair Boulevard to the City limits, and suggesting a coat of
<br /> gravel, was referred to the Street Committee.
<br /> City Engineer was directed to inspect a condition of the Oregon Electric
<br /> tracks at Lincoln Street, on account of alleged water standing over the tracks at
<br /> thi s point.
<br /> The application of C. Loper for a commercial woodsawing location at 2447
<br /> Kincaid Street, approved by Chief Bergman, was on motion granted.
<br /> Councilman Lamb presented the offer of Marie Williams to sell to the Ci ty t../'
<br /> a tract of ground immediately South of the city Shops on Lincoln Street, and the --=-
<br /> . matter was referred to the Street Committee for consideration and report to the
<br /> Council.
<br /> A motion was made. and seconded that the Recorder be instructed to draw
<br /> $50.00 on the Revolving Fund in favor of Johnston and Larson, as part payment on
<br /> the contract for the demolition of the Gaylord building. The aye s and nays were
<br /> called, Councilmen voting aye 8, nay none, absent none.
<br /> A deed from Stena J. Edblom to the City of .Eu.gene, covering the property
<br /> owned by her on Polk Street from Hellen Street North, was tendered to the City
<br /> for the sum of $100.00. This being the property taken by the City for opening a
<br /> road on the East side of the Aviation trac t. A motion was made, seconded and
<br /> carried that the City accept the deed, and a warrant be drawn to Mrs. Edblom ~or
<br /> $100.00. The ayes and nays were called, 'Councilmen voting aye 8, nay none,
<br /> absent none. ,.
<br /> Mayor Large announced that pursuant to the vote on the measure creating the
<br /> I City Board of Health, he desired at this time to reappoint all members of the
<br /> Board now serving. Motion was made, seconded and carried to confirm the appoint-
<br /> men t .
<br /> Mayor Large also announced that City Attorney Calkins had been appointed as
<br /> a member of the Legislative Committee of the League of Oregon Cities, and motion
<br /> was made, seconded and carried that he be authorized to make a~ necessary trips
<br /> in connection with this work, and that his reasonable expenses be allowed.
