M., April 12th, 1935. Council was called to order by Mayor <br />Large, lfor the purpose of opening and considering bids for the sale of llRefunding <br />Assessment Bonds A and B", with all Councilmen present exc~.pt Reid and Carlson. <br /> <br />.,W <br />)~'l <br />" " <br />". "" <br />~ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City Attorney Calkins addressed the Council concerning the necessity for <br />amellding Ordinance No. 8411 and No. 8412, and the Recorder was instructed to <br />present the amendments.' <br /> <br />An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 8411, en ti tled "An Ordinance authorizing <br />and directing the issuance, sale and/or exchange of re'funding bonds, to be <br />designa ted, "Refunding Assessment Bonds A", for the purpose of redeeming, paying <br />and retiring certain bonds issued pursuant to applications to pay assessments <br />in installments, whie,h bonds are redeemable at the option of the City of Eugene, <br />and are designated Series A. F., 5t%, in the principal sum of $154,500, maturing <br />November 15, 1937; and directing that said bonds be called for redemption, and <br />declaring an emergency.", passed by the Cornmon Council on the 27th day of March, <br />1935, and approved by the lIayor olm the 30th d8JT of March, 1935, by strilcing from <br />said Ordinance all of Section 3 and all of Section 6, wld all reference to <br />callable bonds in the title and in the form of the bond appended, was read the <br />first time and passed its second and third readings by title under suspension of <br />the rule by the unmlimous consent of the Council, and was placed upon its final <br />passage. The ayes and nays were called, Councilmen voting aye 6, nay none, absent <br />Reid and Carlson. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8414. <br /> <br />An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 8412, entitled HAn Ordinance authorizing <br />and directing the issuance, sale and/or exchange of refunding boni s,- to be <br />designated llRefunding Assessment Bonds B", for the purpose of redeeming, paying <br />and retiring certain bonds issued pursuant to applications to pay assessments in <br />installments, which bonds are redeemable at the option of the City of Eugene, and <br />are designated Series A. H., 5t/6, in the principal sum of $133,000.00, maturing <br />November 20, 1938; and directing that said bonds be called for redemption, and <br />declaring an emergency.", passed by the Common Council on the 27th day of March, <br />1935, and approved by the Afuyor on the 30th day of March, 1935, by striking from <br />said Ordinance all of Section 3 and all of Section 6, 8...'Yld all reference to <br />callable bonds in the title and in the form of the bond appended, was read the <br />first time and passed its second and third readings by title under suspension of <br />the rule, by the unanimous consent of the Council and was placed upon its final <br />passage. The ayes and nays were called, Councilmen voting aye 6, nay none, absent <br />Reid and Carlson. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8415. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />At this time Councilman Reid appeared in Council. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Sealed bids for the sale of $154,600.00 Refunding Assessment A, and $133,000 <br />Refunding Assessment Bonds B, from Baker, Fordyce, Harpham Co., E. M. Adams and <br />Company, and Camp & Co., Inc., were opened at this time, and upon motion, duly <br />seconded and carried, the Finance Committee was instructed to meet with Mr. <br />Houglum of the First National Baw{, and Mr. Edmunds of the Unit~d States National <br />Bank on April 13th and determine the advisability of accepting the Camp & Company's <br />bid. . <br /> <br />On motion the Council adjourned to meet at 10:00 o'clock A.
