Mains, 73 West 17th Street, concerning property .....] 29 deal, described as follows, was referred to the Finance Committee, City Engineer, "" City Attorney: Beginning at a point 255.5 feet South of the ~outheast ! corner' of Lot Nine (9) in Huddleston's Addition to Eugene, Lane County, Oregon run thence Forty eight (48) feet South, thence West Sixty six (66) feet, thence North Forty eight (48] feet, and thence East Sixty-six (66) feet to the place of beginning, all in Eugene, I Lane County, Oregon. Councilman Bond brought up the subject of condemnation of barns located . 30 I between 3rd and 4th and Jackson and Van Buren. City Attorney Calkins stated de- " finitely he would r~port at the next meeting concerning the same. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Mayor was authorized to con- fer with Mr. John Fields, Deputy Recorder, to select the proper man to handle the 31 lien dockets when consolidation of offices becomes effective._ Recommendation from the Treasurer~s Office that the practice of taking -.... 32 property descriptions over the telephone and reporting the information inquired about be discontinued, was presented and upon motion made and seconded it was so I ordered., The recommendation in full appears as follows~ I "The Council believes that the practice of taking property I descriptions over the telephone and then reporting back I over the telephone the condition of the liens against these descriptions is detrimental to the best interest of the CIty and orders that this practice be discontinued. I The records of the City Liens are always open to the public and the City stands ready to help in furnishing any information that may be desired. Where it is neces- sary to in order to file deeds for record at the Court House the ~ity is willing to furnish signed statements as to the condition of the liens against any particular piece of property, but other than that parties wanting informa- tion regarding city liens will be required to get the in- formation,from the City Records. It is also ordered that where different segregations of -- liens as they now stand are wanted that the party desiring this information leave a signed statement, on blanks that will be furnished by the City. In this way there will be no misunderstanding as to the proper description for the segregation." 33 Resolution was presented providing the consolidation of the treasurer's, --.... . Engineer's and Recorder's offices as follows; and the same upon motion seconded was adopted: RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The arrangement of the city offices is not conducive to a coordination of their respective activities in such a manner as to render to the city the most efficient and economi- cal service, Therefore BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Bugene that I the Building Inspector's Office be and it is hereby ordered to carry forward to completion the proposed alteration as shown by the plans and specifications of the building inspector, in such a manner that the office of the Recorder, City Treasurer and City Engineer shall be aligned in one general office composed of . the present Recorder's office the Council Chambers and the City , ....
