Mayor Large called the meeting to order; <br />1 all councilmen were present except Mr. Fred Carlson. <br /> The minutes of the previous meeting, November 22, 1937, were presented and <br />2 ordered filed. <br /> i Mr. G. D. MacLaren, Manager of Eugene Hardware Company, renewed his reques 1 <br /> I for a special loading and unloading zone for his place of business at the corner <br /> of Park and Oak Streets. Upon motion made and seconded, the council unanimously <br />/' granted the request and the Superintendent of Streets was instructed to mark ofr <br />3 said zone on Park Street, the width of the double doors. <br /> Colonel James H. Tierney extended his sincere apologies to the Mayor and <br /> Common Council for remarks made by him at a recent meeting of the Elks Club. The <br />4 apology was accepted. <br />t <br /> Louis F. Gieseke, 1408 Lawrence Street, asked that his six months special <br /> permit to operate his grocery store at his residence be extended for another six <br /> months with the understanding that at the end of the six months period of time he...... <br /> would either dispose of his business or move it to a proper business zone. Upon_ - <br /> motion made and seconded, the permission was granted. Cou~cilman Borid voted in'~he <br /> negative" explaining that he had received numerous complai~ts objecting to the es- <br />5 tablishment of a grocery store at his residence. <br />/ <br /> The Finance Committee presented a communication and attached statement fro <br /> Percy IT. Brown, auditor, wbo has been working on the city jooks. Councilman Hen- <br /> dershott pointed out that there is a balance of $136.00 in the audit account for <br /> 1937 and they wish to apply this amount to the audit and t'1at Mr. Brown would then <br /> continue as per ag~eement to work on the books on a monthly basis during the year <br /> 1938 and would have to make up the difference in the budget of 1939 to complete <br /> payment of the audit for the year 1937. After considerable discussion, it was I <br />6 agreed that the above outlined procedure be followed.and it was so ordered. <br />( <br /> Second offer of N. E. Glass to pay ~600.00, $50.00 cash and the balance <br /> at $8.00 per month for "part of Lot 5, Block 30, Fairmount Addition known as the <br /> Elliott-Morek property on Fairmount Boulevard", was denied and the recommendation <br />7 to stand on the $1000.00 counter-offer previously made, was approved. <br />/ <br /> Upon recomffiendation of the Finance Committee, the council approved the <br /> segregation of a certificate covering Lots 5 and 6, Block 26, First Addition to <br />8 Chula Vista Park, foreclosed in the name of C. F. Hyde. <br />I <br /> Resolution authorizing the Mayor and Recorder to execute a deed to Jessie <br /> L. Marsh for Lots 5 and 6 and the North Half of Lot 7, Block 14, Fairmount Amended <br />9 Addition to Eugene, was upon motion made and duly seconded, approved. <br />I <br /> RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> WHEREA S , the City of Eugene has acquired title to the following des- <br /> cribed property, to-wit: <br /> Lots Five (5) , Six (6) and the North Half of Lot Seven ('Z) , Block <br /> Fourteen (14) , Fairmount Amended Addition to Eugene, Lane County, <br /> Oregon. <br /> and 1 <br /> WHEREAS, Jessie L. Marsh have offered to the city the sum of $1200.00 <br /> the reasonable value of said lot as determined by the city, , <br /> NOVV, THEREFORE, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of Eugene that the 1 <br /> Mayor and Recorder be and they are hereby directed to execute and <br /> deliver to Jessie L. Marsh a bargairi and sale deed to the above pre- <br /> mises, upon payment of the sum of $1200.00, the purchase price as <br /> determined by the city. <br />~ <br />
