The Federal government has adopted a <br />National Response Plan and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) to provide a consistent <br />nationwide approach for Federal, State and local governments to operate in the event of an emergency. <br />Human Resource and Risk Services (HRRS) staff will review the Emergency Basic Plan and the NIMS <br />Plan with the council. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of Eugene has used the Incident Command System OCS) to organize and manage emergency <br />incidents for many years. <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />This item relates to the council goal of Safe Community. <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br />No action required at this time; however, a resolution adopting the National Incident Management <br />System (NIMS) will be on the City Council's consent agenda for May 9, 2005. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATION <br />The City Manager recommends adoption of the proposed resolution. <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION <br />No motion is required at this time. <br /> <br /> L:\CMO\2005 Council Agendas\M050427\S050427A. doc <br /> <br /> <br />
