<br />The minutes of the adjourned meeting of the common council held at the ~
<br />hour of 7 :30 0' clock P.M." January 23, 1939. Mayor Large presided over the meeting, -,..
<br />Councilmen present were: Lamb, Reid, Bond, ~arrington, Hanns, Page and Koppe; absen ,
<br />Carlson.

<br />The minutes of the previous meeting January 10, 1939 were presented and
<br />2 ordered filed.
<br />
<br />Mr. Eli Rubenstein requested the council to rescind their previous action
<br />of condemning his property located at 530 8th Avenue west, agreeing to place this
<br />property in repair so as to comply with the city, requirements regarding building
<br />and sanitation. Councilman ~'arrington, former chairman of the Health Committee, ma e
<br />a motion that condemnation proceedings be rescinded upon the contingency that Mr.
<br />Rubenstein place said premises in complete repair according to the ouilding and
<br />sanitary code made and provided for by the city of ~ugene and this to be complied
<br />with within a period of two weeks. Motion was duly seconded and carried in favor 0
<br />said recommendation.

<br />The ~1200.00 cash offer of Lance w. Hart for Lot 12, Block 5, Uross Ad-
<br />dition, was rejected by the Pinance uommittee and a counter-offer of $1400.00 ex-
<br />tended. upon motion duly made and seconded, the recommendation of the vommittee wa
<br />I 4 duly approved.

<br />The $550.00 offer of Harlow Hudson for Lots 3, 4, 5 and 6, Block 25, College
<br />Hill Park Addition, with payment of ~110.00 down and 20% or more of the unpaid oala ce
<br />per year plus interest at 6%, was re jected by the J:l'inance uommi ttee wi th 'the request
<br />that it be held for a new appraisal. This was duly granted upon motion made and
<br />I 5 seconded.

<br />lease property at 206 west 20th Avenue for six montns witn option to purcnase auring
<br />'tnat time, $20.00 per month, allowing $10.00 on rent for first month for cleaning up
<br />property; purchase price to be $2500.00, $300.00; down and balance at $22.00 per mont
<br />including interest; rent paid in to apply on pr~ce of down payment and interest on
<br />principal or purchase price during this time to be deducted from rental. The Finance
<br />Committee recommended that this offer be accepted, but refused to allow the $10.00
<br />on rent for the first month for cleaning up the property and it was so ordered.

<br />Offer of Edith F. Gardiner er client Jessie M. Kinney in the amount of
<br />$500.00 each for Lots 4 and 5, Block 12, Hollenbeck Addition, to be paid $150.00
<br />cash and $20.00 per month, $10.00 of which is to be applied on each lot and to in-
<br />clude interest~ was accepted with the provision that $10.00 plus interest be re-
<br />8 quested and it was so ordered by the council.

<br />Lots 1 and 2, Block 3, Rugh's Addition, was denied by the Finance COI!1IDittee and a

<br />the North side of alley, west side of Van Buren between Broadway and Tenth, was re-
<br />fused by the Finance Committee and a counter-offer of $475.00 extended with the city
<br />to reserve the sewer right and it was so ordered.

<br />Offer of Lane County Abstract Company on'behalf of client, David D. Gage,
<br />for lots 5 and 6, Block 7, College Hill Park, was rejected and a counter-offer of
<br />$2250.00 extended and it was so ordered.

<br />The $375.00 offer of George P. Livingston fot #230 Lawrence Street, was
<br />denied by the ~inance Committee and a counter-offer of $400.00, requiring a $100.00
<br />cash payment, extended with monthly payments of $10.00 plus interest and it was so
<br />ordered.

<br />Offer of Sam Rugh Realty Company on behalf of client in the amount of
<br />~1360.00 for Lot 6, Block 2, Campbell's First Addition, was approv~d by the Finance
<br />Committee and recommendation sustained by the council.
