H. Propp# 1392 Moss Street# No. 647 (Approved); Meta B. McCard~ <br />~,t11477 OH ve Street# No. 648 ~Approved) and Clyde M~??uga1 221 West 13t~ Avenue West, No. 649 (Approved <br /> <br />Deed from the City of Eugene to J. W. Maltman and Lizzie 1I1altman for a tract 1.68 feet <br />/ qy 146 feet# being a correction for a tract dedicated by the city and N~ltmans at the council <br />meeting held on April 24, 1939 was presented. Upon motion made and seconded the 1hyor and the <br />30 City Recorder were authorized to execute the deed., <br /> <br />11/ Mayor Large reported that on Tuesday Yay 9# 1939# at 7:30 P;;'M. a meeting would be held <br />,A in the Council Chambers in the City of EUgene for ,r~presentatives of Springfield and Glenwood <br />31 and ~~. Kehrli to explain the proposed consoliJation to the Ci~J of Eugene. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />) <br />32 <br /> <br />Mayor Large also reported that he had recei ved an invi ta tion from the State Board of <br />Higher Education for the City of Eugene to attend the annual competitive drill between Oregon <br />State College and the Universi~ of Oregon to be held at Corvallis on N~y 19# 1939. <br /> <br />) <br />33 <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />At this time Mayor Large recommended the appointment of B. G. Smith as a member of -the <br />Police Department in the City of Eugene to become effective on May 10# 1939. Upon motion made and <br />seconded the recommendation was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />Councilman Page" reported that the NYA Camp at Skinner Butte Park was offering the services <br />o~ several men in painting the park buildings provided the city was willing to furnish the material. <br /> <br />) <br />35 <br /> <br />At this time Mr. Charles Paine addressed the council concerning the use of the building <br />lOcated on Olive Street being used by'the Pacific Truck Express. Mr. Paine was informed that he <br />should obtain from the City Engineer information as to the use of the building. If there is any <br />question on the part of the City Engineer then the council is to take acti?n. <br /> <br />At this time Councilman Bond proposed a resolution of sympathy upon the death of the <br />father of C. F. Bergman # Chief of the Police Department and that the same be spread upon the minutes <br />of the city with a copy sent to Chief Bergn~n. Upon motion made and seconded the resolution was <br />unanimously approved. <br /> <br />36 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Captain John Bergman passed away on l~y 6# 1939# and, <br /> <br />vVHEREAS, he was the father of Carl F. Bergman, Chief of Police of the City of Eugene, <br />and was held in high regard am respect by all who knew him, <br /> <br />,NOW# THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Wayor and the Conunon Council of ih e City of <br />Eugene that while we accept the decreel& of a Supreme Power, yet do wedeplore the loss of a <br />citizen of outstanding worth. <br /> <br />That we extend to his family our sincere sympathy and that this resolution be spread <br />upon upon the minutes of this meeting arid a copy forwarded to the family of the departed one. <br /> <br />The meeting ,vas herewith adjourned. <br /> <br />C.
