<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Eugene has for some time had under consideration the
<br /> propriety and impropriety of installing a pay parking meter system, and
<br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Brenne, as Secretary of the Eugene Chamber of Commerce, has
<br /> placed at the disposal of the council the resources of his organization, and
<br /> particularly a report vvhich reflects the investigation made by Mr., Roy Morse, the
<br /> Chairman of the Merchants' Committee,

<br /> WHEREAS, heretofore, one Florence Handsaker made a claim upon the City
<br /> pf Eugene with respect to an alleged defect in the city's sidewalk, claimed by her
<br /> ~o have been the result of a misplaced water cover and claimed by the city to ~ve
<br /> [:en a mere inequality in the sidewalk, and
<br /> I ,WHEREAS, Florence Handsaker commenced an action against the city of I
<br /> B gene based on said alleged defect and secured a judgement in the sum of $1300.00
<br /> rnd filed a cost bill in the sum of $91.00, all bearing interest at six per cent,
<br /> bhiCh judgement was docketed at rage 292 of volume 10 of the Judgment Docket of the
<br /> II ircui t Court of the State of Oregon for Lane County in the Office of the County
<br /> Clerk of Lane County, Oregon, and
<br /> ~ WHEREAS, the "Eugene Water Beard carried insurance in the General Casualty
<br /> po~pany of America, indemnifying it against any loss or damage because of its operat .ons,
<br /> ~nQ .
<br /> [1 WHEREAS, a settlement has been made with Flo~ence Handsaker, under the
<br /> terms of which, she has satisfied t11e judgment against the City of Eu~ene in full.
