Newberry Company asking for a refund of $4.00 on a $5.00 electrical ~""'.' <br /> license was presented. It was pointed out that. just after this electrical license was paid a <br /> new ordinance had been passed reducing the fee from $5.00 to $1.00 and upon motion made and seconded <br /> 25- the refund was granted. <br /> An ordinance to prohibit the sale and use of fire crackers, sky rockets, torpedos, bombs, <br />I cap pistols and other similar explosives, or the sale or us,e of confetti, and providing a penalty <br /> 26 for the violation thereof was read the first time and held over to the next meeting. <br /> Councilman Hanns reported there were considerable complaints about wine l:eing sold from <br /> the various places to minors, but it was pointed out that since the licenses for these places had <br /> 27/ been granted, it was up to the State Liquor Cormnission to take the necessary action. <br /> Councilman Reid asked that the City of EugEne furnish free gas to T. W. Fisher, Superintend nt <br /> of Play Grounds and to his assistant for use in their cars while being out for play ground purposes. <br /> The request was denied but it was suggested that ~ome arrangement might be made Vlhereby these two <br /> 28/ people could get the gas from the city at the city's wholesale price. Mr. . Re id sa id he would <br /> report to Mr. Fisher to see if this was satisfactory, but no vote was taken authorizing this action. <br /> . , " <br /> Councilman Page reported that the users of the Park Cottage back of the Butte had been <br /> in the habit of making domtions in small sums to be accumulated and spent for replacing broken <br /> dishes, tuning piano, furnishing chairs and various other things. He pointed out that -the City nade <br /> no oharge for the use of the Cottage and -these donati ons had simply been place9. in the care of <br /> Mr. Sullivan for safe keeping. Councilman Page said that the following sums had beenl turned over to <br /> the Recorder and placed in tre General Fund; April 24th, $6.i4 and on J~e 2nd $15.00 making a total <br /> of $21.14. He pointed out tlm-t since this money had been turned in to the General Fund it could not <br /> be spent as 'was intended, rot if it was spent it would }lave to come out of the Park Budget. He <br /> asked that this $21.40 be taken out of the Emergency Fund and returned to Mr. Sullivan.
