<br />~ <br />277 <br /> <br />__ ..0 _. ___ ~.. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />provision for the formation of fire districts, g1v1ng them power <br />to organize and to contract with municipalities for fire protection, <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the city of Eugene does not wish to continue <br />the present l1aphazard method of guaDanty and will, afte,r. <br />Januaryl, 1941, refuse to rurther recognize any other than <br />contracts ~ith .regularly organized fire districts for outside <br />protection, <br /> <br />t\:D <br />'!'O <br />-J <br /> <br />Now, Therefore <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of <br />Eugene that ~he City Recorder of the City of Eugene be and <br />he is hereby directed to forward a copy of this Resolution <br />to all persons having filed either bonds or fire insurance <br />policies as a means of securing fire protection outside of the <br />city, and <br /> <br />~e is furtheroinstructed to cause the substance of <br />,this resolution to be published. <br /> <br />Councilman Koppe asked the condition of the sidewalk repair-project and <br />Mayor Large reported that the City Engineer's Office and the local \VPA agency <br />II were about ready to begin work. Councilman Farrington stated that a very bad <br />sidewalk spot existed on north 14th Street between Mill and Ferry and it .needed <br />26~repairs very badly now. ' <br /> <br />It was reported by Councilman Cox that trash was being dumped at the <br />end of 13th Street and the .Chief of .Police was instructed to see that this matter <br />27 was cleaned up and the practice stopped. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Councilman Barette reported that :Mrs. Ella M. Berger ,had requested the <br />city's permission to trim two maple trees and remove two maple trees on Lincoln <br />Street at the corner of Fifth. As the Park Cownittee has not had an opportunity <br />to investigate this request, it r-espectfu~ly requested an extension of time to <br />28 consider the matter. The request was unanimously granted. <br /> <br />The City Recorder was instructed to publish a "Call for Bids" for the <br />purchase of two motor vehicles for the City Engineer's Department--one pick-up <br />model and one panel body model. Awards to be made at the meeting of the <br />29~Common Council, Tu'esday,February 13, 1940 at 7:30 o'clock p.m. <br /> <br />Upon motion the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />C. M.
