<br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 1 of Ordinance
<br />No. 6239, granting to the Southern Pacific Company a franchise for the use.
<br />of the streets of the City, there is a provision to the effect
<br />that the grantee, its successors or assigns, may operate upon or
<br />along, or make use of any other or addi~ional streets, avenues,
<br />thoroughfares and public highways within the present limits of
<br />the City, and
<br />
<br />" WHEREAS, it is deemed in the interest of better motor bus
<br />service that the grantee be permitted to proceed with its bus
<br />service from the intersection of 11th Avenue East and Alder
<br />Street to the intersection of 22nd Avenue East and Alder Street,
<br />and thence East on 22nd Avenue to its intersection with University
<br />Street, and the right is hereby granted to the Oregon Motor Stages to
<br />use such streets, and
