<br />I The minutes of the previous meeting, August 12, 1940, were presented and
<br /> 2-- ordered placed on file. The meeting was herewith called to order. .

<br /> Mr. J. L. Guthrie of Guthrie's Grocery at 1201 West 11th Stteet addressed
<br /> the council sta~ing that if the council ever altered its restricted policy governin
<br /> liquor permits he wished to apply for a Package Store Class "A" Liquor license for
<br /> 3>- his place of business. '
<br /> Councilman Farrington, Chairman of the Finance Committee, presented the off r
<br /> of D. M. Higbee, a request for $35.00 ~or mortgage satisfaction and Abstract for
<br /> the North 60 feet of Lot 1, Block 6, Shelton's First Addition (West 2nd and Lawrenc
<br /> Streets) was presented. It was the Finance Committee's recommendation that ~~.
<br /> 4~ Higbee's request be turned over to the county and it was so ordered.
<br /> Request of Norman T. Schneider, the city to pay the taxes and he will
<br /> comp~nsate by paying $10.00 per month for the property at 1420 West 6th Avenue,
<br /> (Lot 2, Block 2, West ~~xth Add.) was presented with the recommendation that the
<br /> 5-' city pay the back taxes to the county. The recomnendation was unanimously approved.
<br /> Request of Robert W. Watson for $50.00 refund, payment made on Lot 49x130
<br /> on the Northeast corner of 8th Avenue and Taylor Street, due to delay in clearing
<br /> title was presented with the recommendation that the request be granted and the
<br /> 6~ contract ordered cancelled. It was so ordered.
<br /> The offer of Rug~Realty Company for client Ernest T. Ray, $400; $80.00
<br />'I cash and the balance at :jp15.00 per month for the East 121.06 feet of Lot 16, Huddle _
<br /> ton's Addition (Southwest corner of 8th Avenue and Almaden Street) was presented
<br /> with the recommendation that the offer be accepted. The recommendation was unanimo
<br /> 7>- approved.
<br /> The offer of Willis H. Small, $175.00 cash for Lot 6, Block 4, Hollenbeck
<br /> Addition (100 feet East of the Northeast corner of 15th Avenue and Washington Stree
<br /> was presented with the recommendation that the offer be accepted. The recommenda-
<br /> 8...- tion was unanimousiliy approved.
<br /> , The offer of Ralph B. La~e, $400 cash, for Lot 7, Block 4, College Hill
<br /> Park Addition (Southeast corner of 19th Avanue and Washington Street); offer con-
<br /> ditioned on Board of Appeals request to build a duplex. The Finance Committee
<br /> recmmmended the rejection of the offer because the city did not have an appraisal
<br /> price on this property. Also the Board of Appeals had denied his request to build
<br /> a duplex house on the property. Motion was made and seconded approving the
<br /> 9l-- recommendation of the Committee.

<br /> . . Offer of A. H. Norton, $700 cash, for Lot 9, Block 19, College Hill Park
<br /> Addition (120 feet South of the Southeast corner of 22nd and Charnelton) was
<br /> presented. The Finance Committee recommended a counter offer of $800; with $100
<br /> returnable if construction starts in 90 days and the Tecommendation was unanimously
<br /> 10 ~ approved.
<br /> Offer of R. N. Stevenson, $150; $15 cash and the balance at $5.00 fer
<br />I month plus interest at 6% for part of Lot 3, Block 23, Fairmount Addition NW
<br /> corner of Orchard and Fairmount) was presented. The council voted to accept the
<br /> offer of $150 with the understanding that the city issue only a Bargain and Sale
<br /> deed and that if, and when, a bu~lding is erected on this property, the value of
<br /> ll~ the same shall not be less than ~3000.
<br /> Offer of Olga V. Lindquest, $850 cash, for the North 90 feet of Lot 6,
<br /> Block 2, R. F. Scotts Addition (Southeast corner of 15th and Hilyard Street) was
<br />I presented with the recommendation that the offer be denied. The recommendation was
<br /> 12v 'unanimously approved.
<br /> The offer of Rugh Realty Company for cli~nt, William Walters, was presented
<br /> with the recommendation that a counter offer of ~600 be extended with a $75 refund
<br /> if construction is started in 90 days. The recommendation was approved. The offer
<br /> is $525 cash, for Lot 1 and the North 11 feet of Lot 2, Block 5, Driverton Addition,
<br /> l3c- (Southwest corner of 17th Avenue and Mill Street) .
<br /> Councilman Carlson, Chairman of the Street Committee, recommended that the
<br /> Firestone Auto & Supply Store at 184 East 11th Street be required to install
<br /> curbing as per the blue print submitted by the City Engineer under the supervision
<br /> of Engineer W. C. Clubb. Motion was made and seconded unanimously approving the
<br /> 141 recommendation of the Street Oommittee.
