Motion was made and seconded <br />25 unanimously approving the recom.mendation. . <br /> <br />Councilman Bond reported that an investigation had been made at 1283 West <br />4th Street and found a residence was being used for carrying on a wholesale vegetabl <br />pr9duce business. He'recomIllended that the bu~iness be stopped. Motion was made'and <br />seponded approvinG the recomrnendation and the~ Chief of Police instructed to not1fy <br />th~ residents thereof that the practice would. have to be discontinued, and it was <br />26 so ordered. <br /> <br />It was reported that theVVPA'wished pennission to construct a room within 1 <br />the auditoriUm on the third floor of the city' hall for the purpo~e of conducting , <br />classes. After some discussion moti~n was ma~e and seconded granting the authority , ' <br />_I pr?viding the Ci ty of Eugene was to fUFni sh 'tt!1e space only; the c9st of n:a tel' i,al , <br />2'~ lapor, heat and light porne by the WPA, and it was so ordered. <br /> <br />Mayor Elisha Large wished to appoint Mr. G. G. Busillaan to complete the <br />unexpired term of E. O. Potter, deceased, as a member of the Planning Commission. <br />28.... Theappointment was unanimously approved by the council. <br /> <br />Communication ViaS presented by the City Recorder from the Booth Kelly Lum- <br />ber Company, the Springfield Pl~vood Corporation and the Cone Lumber Company concern <br />ing fire protection after December 31, 1940. The matter referred to the Fire and <br />Water Coramittee to report back at the next meeting of the,council with suggestions <br />as to working out a schedule for an annual charge payable in advance for such servic s. <br />Question was brought up as to the possibility of such industrial plants furnishing <br />the City a statement of their assessed valuation each year and they to pay the city, <br />J in advance, the same millage on their assessed valuation as the people of the city <br />29 pay on their property. <br /> <br />Communication was presented from the Board of Appeals presenting the request <br />of E. M. ~anta, Real Estate Broker,.asking for a re-zoning of the Harry H. Gordon <br />Addition into a Business Zone. This is a tract of land lying on each side of Sevent <br />Avenue from the City limits on the West to a point sixty-six feet east of the east <br />line of Taylor Street. The Board rec9mmend~hat this request be referred to the <br />30' Planning Commission and the recommendation was unanimously approved: .11 <br /> <br />Req~est was recelved from the Snellstrom Lumber Company asklng for a <br />permit to erect an addition to their present buildin~t the northeast corner of the <br />intersection of Sixth Avenue and Charnelton Street, of the same construction of the <br />present bui~ding--frame covered with corrugated iron. Said building addition <br />to be not closer than twelve feet to the east property line. The Board recommends <br />that this request be granted and motion was made and seconded unanimously <br />31 approving the recommendation of the Board. - <br /> <br />A resolution was presented directing the Planning Commission to hold a , II <br />hearing on the proposal to change the classification of a tract of land on Seventh <br />Avenue from the city limits to Taylor Street from a single family residence district <br />to a business district and to adopt a tentative report and thereafter make a final <br />report and transmit the same to the council with their recommendation and it was <br />~~~ unanimously approved. <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the COITID10n Council of the City of <br /> <br />~ 1 <br />
