I <br /> "''''''''- <br /> '.,-, <br /> ;t~ ~- <br /> n.>., <br /> ~ The minutes of the adjourned meeting of the Common Council held in the <br /> r-~...' <br /> '-' Council Chambers on December 23, 1940 at 7:30 o'clock p.m. Mayor Elisha Large <br /> ~ presided over the meeting. Councilmen present were A. A. Reid, Sam C. Bond, <br /> ! A. C. Farrington, Louis Koppe, E. A. Barette, and Ira O. Stewart and Orren Brownson; <br /> absent: Fred C. Carlson. <br /> ~he minutes of the previous meeting were presented and ordered placed on I <br /> fi Ie. 'l'he meeting was herewith c aIled to order. <br /> Mayor Large announced that official notification had been received from the <br /> CAA aiPrOVing the proposed airport site for the City of Eugene and allocating the <br /> city '250',000. He requested the council to take action upon excercising the options <br /> secured on Section 6. After a brief discussion a resolution was presented directing <br /> the officers of the City of Eugene to proceed to exercise the options for all proper y <br /> lying within Section 6 as proposed for the new airport for the city of Eugene. Mr. <br /> W. M. Tugman addressed the council pointing out the necessity for immediate action <br /> and the desirability of further attempting to l?ecure a reductIon in the purchase <br /> price of the .l!osbeck and titickels properties. Upon motion made and seconded the <br /> resolution was unanimously approved. ~he Mayor then requested action on the options <br /> for the proposed cantonment and right-of-\~y property. Discussion was had particip- <br /> ated in by Councilman Bond, Hobert Prescott, Ed Behnke, Mahilon Sweet, W. M. Tugman~ <br /> and Earl McNutt all pointing out the advisability of securing the property at this <br /> time. Councilman Bond explained that in reducing the price of his property (in <br /> keeping with the others) he had done so for the benefit of the city. A resolution <br /> was presented authorizing officials of the City of Eugene to exercise options for <br /> the cantonment and right of way prop~rtie$. Motion was made~ seconded, and approved <br /> XN~XOCXK~~xxx~~mmixx~~xMNMIxIxiNgxm~xW4 unanimously adopting the resolution. A <br /> resolution accepting an offer of aid in th~ development of the Eugene Airport throug <br /> the CAA was presented and upon motion made and seconded the resolution was unanimous y I <br /> adopted. ~t was requested that the memQer~ of the airport committee consisting of <br /> W. M. Tugman, Robert Behnke, Earl McNutt, Ray McInnis, A. C. Farrington, Louis Koppe I <br /> and the Mayor meet in the office of the City Attorney December .24 at ten o'clock <br /> a.m. for the purpose of completing this work. (Note: all options are now in the <br /> 3 hands of the ~ity Attorney) <br /> RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> ---------- <br /> WHEREAS, heretofore options have been obtained upon <br /> Section 6, Township 17 South of Range 4 West of the Willamette <br /> Meridian, Lane County, Oregon, for an airport site, <br /> Therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE <br /> that the City of Eugene does hereby exercise options for all of <br /> the property lying within Section 6 as proposed for a new airport <br /> for the City of ~ugene and the Mayor and the city Recorder be <br /> and they are hereby authorized and directed to sign all papers, <br /> make all arrangements and make all payments necessary to the <br /> completion of the purchase of the airport site. <br /> RES 0 L UTI 0 N I <br /> WHEREAS, as a part of the airport site purchase in <br /> Section 6, 'l'ownship 17, South of Hange 4 West of the Willamette <br /> Meridian, Lane County, Oregon, options have been procured by <br /> the City of Eugene for an area lying to the East of the airport <br /> to be used for cantonment and right of way property, <br /> Therefore, I <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE <br /> that the City of Eugene does hereby exercise options for all of <br /> the property lying within Section 5, ~ownship 17 South of Range 4 <br /> West immediately East of Section 6 as proposed for a new airport, <br /> for the ~ity of ~ugene and the Mayor and the City Recorder be and <br /> they are hereby authorized and directed to sign all papers, make <br /> all arrangements and make all payments necessary to the completion <br /> of the purchase of the cantonment site immediately agjacent to the <br /> airport site. <br /> ~ <br />
