<br />~ <br />418 <br /> <br />Council Chambers Eugene, Oregon <br />January 13, 1941 <br /> <br />~:L"l <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />~~ The minutes of the regular meeting of the ~ommon Council held in the ~ouncil <br />~ Chambers on January 13, 1941, at 7:30 o'clock p.m. Mayor Elisha Large presided over XNE <br />the meeting. ~ouncilmen present were: A. A. Reid, Sam C. Bond, A. C. Farrington, <br />Louis Koppe, E. A. oarette, Ira O. Stewart, and Orren Brownson; absent: Fred C. <br />~Carlson . <br /> <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were presented and ordered placed <br />2~on file. The meeting was herewith called to order. <br />seven <br />City Recorder bryan stated that the xxx elective officers of the city <br />who were required to swe&r to an oath of office, had complied in full and they <br />were as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Paul D. Gillette <br /> <br />At this time Mayor Large stated that with the-approval of the council, all <br />committee appointments would be postponed until a later meeting and the Council <br />3~ommittees would act as at present. The council approved the postponement. <br />monthly <br />Mayor Large named the following appointees and/salaries of all employees <br />or officers elected or appointed for the ensuing year: Councilman brownson made a <br />motion that the appointment of Dr. L. G. Helterline as Milk and Meat ~nspector be <br />made on a temporary basis because the tlealth Committee was conducting a survey of <br />his work and expected to have a complete report ready for the next council meemng <br />which might alter the situation. 'fhe motion was seconded by ~ouncilman Reid <br />and upon calling for the question was favorably passed. Dr. Helterline was thereby <br />appointed to serve on a temporary-basis. uouncilman oarette then made a motion that <br />all appointments named by Mayor Large be confirmed by the council with the exception <br />of Charles Sullivan, Supt. of Parks. Th~ motion was seconded by ~ouncilman Stewart, <br />and approved by the council. Mr. oarett'e, Chairman of the Printing and Parks ~ommi- <br />ttee, stated that the corumi ttee had given full- consideration to the management of th <br />Parks and they felt that a change of superintendents was essential. They would <br />therefore recornmend to the Mayor and Council, and he made a motion to that effect, <br />that Fred E. Lamb be appointed as Superintendent of Parks. The motion was seconded <br />by Councilman Farrington and approved by ~he council. The appointment of a caretake <br />for the Comfort Station was held in abeyance until all applicants were given full <br />4 consideration. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />General Fund Salaries <br /> <br />W.
