Mahaffy, ~~700.00, $140 cash and the balance at $25.00 <br />per month plus interest at 6% for the East 100 feet of Lot 6, Block 20, College <br />Hill Park Addition (northwest corner of 23rd and Charnel ton) ; intends to build a <br />$5000 1'home, was pre sented with the recommendation that the offer be accepted and <br />the recommendation was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />The j!'inance Committee recommended the acceptance of the offer of Paul W.' <br />for clients,T.O. and Nellie Nelson, $750 cash, for the West 110 feet of Lot 10, <br />Block 5, Kelsays 2nd Addition (SE corner of 16th and Ferry), on condition they are <br />allowed to build a duplex. Spencer for client, David McCosh, $700 cash, for the <br />North 60 feet of the South 168 feet of Lot 3, Block 20, Fairmount Addition <br />(West side of Fairmount between 19th and Walnut)was presenteE!. with the recommenda- <br />tion that the offer be accepted and the recornmendation was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />The ]'inance Committee recommended a counter offer of $525 on theoffer of <br />A. J. Gabriel, $450.00 cash, for Lot 6, Block 27, Chula Vista Park First Addition <br />(between Chula Vista Street and Van Ness Street, 121.4 feet North of Indiana <br />Avenue.) The recommendation was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />I The Finance Committee recommended the acceptance of the offer of W. B. <br />~iddle, $475.00, $95.00 cash and the balance at $9.00 per month plus interest at <br />16% for the lot on the south side of 23rd 166 feet West of Agate and running West <br />~8 feet and south 100 feet, also the piece south of this being about 50 x 64. Upon motion made and seconded the recommenda- <br />Ition was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />A resolution authorizing the City Treasurer to pay the accrued interest on <br />tV!unicipal Airport warrants out. 01" the Municipal Airport fund was presented and upon <br />60tion made by Councilman Farrington and seconded by Councilman Hawn unanimously <br />~pproved. <br /> <br />1/4: <br /> <br />15' <br /> <br />16' <br /> <br />" <br />17 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City <br />of Eugene that the City Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized <br />to pay accrued interest on outstanding municipal airport warrants <br />and to charge the same to the Municipal Airport Levy Fund whenever the <br />warrants are purchased by any fund of the city, or when the warrants are <br />called for payment. <br /> <br />Councilman Farrington reported that additional help was needed i~he <br />~ity Treasurer's Office and also in the office of the Chief of Police. Councilman <br />Farrington said the Police and Finance COnIDlittees had held a joint' meeting and it <br />fas the~r recornnendation that a gir~ be hi~~d.for full time at a salary not to <br />exceed ~60 per lnonth and that her tlme be Qlvlded between the Treasurer's Office <br />&nd the Police Department Office. 'Councilman Hawn said it appeared to him they <br />~ight need help in these two offices and he thought something should be done about <br />~t but a record of the correspondence carried on in each office should be kept so <br />the co.Jjrrni ttee could determine the number of 1 ett.ers that were sent out. A mot ion <br />~ ~as made by Councilman Barette, seconded by Councilman Bond authorizing the hiring <br />~f this gril with the selection to be made by the Mayor. The motion was carried. <br /> <br />i Reporting on the petition to have the alley running East frcm Olive Street, <br />Between 23rd and 24th Streets, vacated, the Street Committee recommended that the <br />~lley be vacated and the City Attorney to present the proper vacation papers at the <br />~ext council meeting. The recommendation was unanimously appr~ved. <br /> <br />J Reporting on the request to have the city improve the conditions of Ash <br />,treet, Councilman Barette pointed out that this street had never been graded and <br />~f the property owners wished any improvement there, they would have to pay for the <br />~ame. <br /> <br />I Request was received from Mr. R. N. Stevenson aSking the city to vacate <br />1n alley in Block 30, Driverton Addition and after investigating the nlatter, Council- <br />~an Barette, ChairnBn of the Street Cornnittee, reported that this alley was. needed <br />by the city and the reQuest was denied. <br /> <br />II Councilman Barette reported tha t they had secured bids for removing the <br />tihree trees on 11th Street just north of the public library. They had received <br />1 bid of $30 for cutting down each tree if that could be done wi tho.ut topping the <br />I I E <br />urees. f they had to top the trees, the price would be ~40.00.
