Councilman Barette reporting for the Street Department thought the streets were being kept in. very good condition but thclt Monday morning, he had been up at 6:00 o'clock and had gone out to see how the work was being performed. On .1 going to the Street Department barn, he discovered the sweepf)r had not been out all night and was laid up for repairs. He also stated that the sewer at 24th and 17 Onyx was nearing completion and would be in service in a day or two. Councilman Brownson reporting for the Health Committee, said they had checke the delivery of turkey feathers at the City Dump and it would be necessary to build a gravel road or some planking for a distance of. 100 yards. He said after looking into the matter it was the committee's recommendation that the City accept the responsibility of taking care of these feathers and that no extra charge be made for taking care of them. Mr. Brownson said the Engineer was being asked to check with Mr. nughes regarding a road to deiliiver these feathers. A motion was made by Hawn and seconded by Koppe that this matter be left in the hands of the Health Committee together with the Engineer's office with the power to act. J.'i.lotion 18 was carried. Councilman Hawn. 'reported for the Parks that the ground had been prepared and they had bought one hundred pounds of grass seed and there would.soon be Some 19 more new lawn at the Butte. Councilman Bond reported regarding the recent Saul Paul convection and stated that this was the second time Saul Paul had been in trouble of this kind ~ and he moved that Saul Paul's license be revoked, to take effect November 1, 1941. 20 Motion was secunded by Hawn and carried. On motion made, seconded and carried the Mayor and Recorder were instructed I to enter into a contract with the Standard Oil Company for a sixteen foot set-back 21 at the Northwest corner of 6th and Blair. A letter from the Oregon Motor Stages requesting certain re-rout-ing of buses was read, as follows: West 11th Street Line: discontinue operation on Almaden . between Broadway and 11th and On Broadway between Almaden and Polk. Establish operation on Chambers between 8th and 11th and on 8th between Chambers and Polk. 19th and Jefferson Line: Discontinue operation on 17th between Willamette and I Jefferson. Estaplish operation on 13th between Willamette and.Jefferson, on Lin- coln between 13th and 19th and on Jefferson between 13th and 17th. On motion by 22 Hawn and seconded by Stewart this request was granted. A letter from Martin P. Simon regarding sewer connections for certain residences just Qutside the City limits on South Willamette was read..Attached to the letter was a petition to the council signed by fifteen residents of that neighborhood. Inasmuch as. this was outside the City limits, the letter was ordered 23 placed on file. .No action was taken. ... At this time,.
