<br />608 <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />,~ l,;-,i <br /> <br />To the Members of the Common Council of the City of Eugenet Oregon., <br /> <br />NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on this 13th day of Marcht 1942, the Mayor of Eugene <br />hereby calls a meeting to be held at 7:30 o'clock P.M. in the Council Chambers <br />of the City of Eugene for the following purposes: <br /> <br />For the purpose of entering into a contract with Eugene School District #4 for <br />the lease of the old Aviation Field t and for consideration of a le,ase with the <br />United Airlines for the Municipal Airport. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />~' <br /> <br />....... <br /> <br />GC <br /> <br />March 13t 1942 <br />Eugene t Oregon <br /> <br />/s/ ELISHA LARGE <br />Elisha LargetMayor <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon <br />March 13, 1942 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Larget and all councilmen <br />were present with the exception of Stewart And Brownson. <br /> <br />Mr. J. R. Dyer, Attorney for the United Airlines, was present and <br />Mayor Large asked him to state the differences in a contract which had been <br />drawn during the day at Attorney Calkins office, and the contract that had been <br />proposed SOll1e two or three months ago., Mr. Dyer explained tha t on account of <br />the revetments constructed by the arnw on the airport, it w.as necessary to move <br />the location of the United Airlines Administration Building. Mr. Dyer also <br />explained that on account of the new location of the building they would need <br />a new access road and a loading ramp. In the previous contract the City had <br />agreed to furnish these facilities on account of having had assurance from the <br />C.A.A. that they would furnish the.se for the City. Since the change in location <br />of the Administration building it was not clBar whether the C.A.A. might be <br />willing to furnish these facilities and in the new contract this had been deleted, <br />the United Airlines assuming the responsibility for these. He also stated that <br />the length of the Lease had been increased to twenty years; that the date on which <br />the rental paid by the United Airlines to the City in the new contract was as of <br />April 1, 1942. After some little discussion by the council a resolution was <br />read authorizing the Mayor and Recorder to enter into this contract with the <br />United Airlines. A motion by Hawn and seconded by Bond that the Fesolution be <br />adopted, was carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />RE SOL UTI 0 N <br />---------- <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVEDt by the Common Council of the City of Eugene that the <br />Mayor and City Recorder be and they are hereby authorized and directed <br />to execute the contract with the United Airlines. <br /> <br />At this time, Chainnan Koppe of the Aviation Committee reported <br />regarding the Committee s meeting with the School Board in regard to the rental <br />of the old Aviation FiE;lld. He stated the meeting had been held on Tuesday <br />evening, March loth and it appeared that the School Board desired the exclusive <br />right and use of the buildings and grounds of the old Aviation field, and that <br />it was the recommendation of the A'Tiation 'Committee that the Council should <br />enter into a contract with the School Board for t4euse of the Old Airport for <br />the duration of the war. Attorney Calkins was instructed to prepare such a <br />contract with the SChool Board dlong the lines as agreed on by the Aviation <br />Committee. The Mayor explained that as soon as the contract could be drawn, <br />2- he would call a special meeting of the Council to ratify it. <br /> <br />On motion, the Council adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />~ <br />
