<br />I BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Eugene
<br />I that there is hereby transmitted to the Planning Commission of
<br />D the City of Eugene a proposal to change the classification of the
<br />~ following described area:
<br />1.11 Beginning 320 feet South and 331.5 feet West of the
<br />Northeast corner of Claim 54, Township 17, South of
<br />11,.1 Range 3 West of the Willamette Meridian, which said
<br />1 point is the Northeast corner of the intersection~
<br />:: Madison Street and 9th Avenue West in the City of
<br />!l Eugene, run North along the East line of Madison
<br />II Street 145 feet to the. alley between 8th Avenue West
<br />1.1. and 9th Avenue West, thence East 82 feet, thence South
<br />i 55 feet, thence West 2 feet, thence South 90 feet,
<br />Ii and West along the North line of 9th Avenue West 80
<br />~ feet to the place of beginning.

<br />': the Eugene Register Guard, and they shall thereafter .make a final

<br />i: The report of the Fire Department for the month of Augus t was read and ordered
<br />Ii placed on file. Chief Nusbaum of the Fire Department, reported tha t the local Fire
<br />_ II..: Department and the State Fire Marshal's representative had inspected thirty-three
<br />1 I fraternities on the Univermty of Oregon campus and also many private houses where
<br />~ students were housed and also the Farmer's Union Warehouse and the Miner Building
<br />10!1 on East Broadway. Printed copies of the recommended corrections were left at each
<br />11.., of the houses with instructions to mail them back to the State Fire Marshal's offffic
<br />:; as soon as the instructions had been .carried out. Chief Nusbaum had stated that
<br />I: the state Fire Ivlarshal would have a representative here at an early date to _go
<br />!!; back over these premises to see that the corrections were made.

<br />~ The Recorder reported that the present gasoline contracts would expire
<br />I:: December 31, and on motion made, seconded, and carried, the Recorder was instructed
<br />ll~ to advertise for sealed bids for the City requirements for gasoline for the year
<br />I: 1943, to be opened at the Council meeting December 14th.

<br />12 Iii Wm. '1'. Wheatley, Jason S. Cowles, and Chester 1. Good; Police Department--Q,uintin
<br />II L. Olson, and William M. Palmer. These names ,,"'ere ordered placed on the payroll.

<br />i1 An Ordinance initiating vacation of part of Hamble Avenue in order to reduce
<br />r the width of that street to 25 feet was read the first time and passed to its
<br />'I': second and third readings by unanimous consent of the council by title under sus
<br />13,1 pension of the rules and was placed for final passE;ge. The ayes and nays were
<br />~, called; councilmen voting aye; Stewart, Brownson, Pennington, Bond, Barette,
<br />r Koppe, and Farrington; nay, none, absent, Hawn. The ordinance was declared passed
<br />!: and numbered 8756.
