<br />~I The minutes of the regular meeting of the Common Council held Monday evening
<br />:~ at 7:30 o'clock. All councilmen were present with the exception of Mr. Hawn.

<br /> I The Judiciary Committee had no report.
<br /> I Councilman Farrington, reporting for the Finance Committee, stated that they
<br /> ,.. had a request from Mr. M. Schroeder for a refund of $25.00 on Lot 4, Block 3, Rees
<br /> I Addition. Mr. ~chroeder had purchased this lot from the City on October 6, 1941,
<br /> I for the sum of $275.00 with an ag~eement that if building ~as started in 90 days,
<br /> . he was to have a refund of $25.00. The City was unable to complete title to the
<br />1 property until March 9, 1942 and after that time it was impossible for Mr.Schroede
<br /> to begin construction of a building on account of War regulations. Considering
<br /> the fact that the City had been so long in securing title to the property it
<br /> : prevented Mr. Schroeder from starting building, it was the recommendation of the
<br /> ; Finance Committee that the $25.00 be refunded at this time. On motion made, seconded
<br /> i and carried the re commenda tion of the Finance Committee was adopted.

<br /> I Councilman Barette said the' Street Department had been working hard on cleanin
<br />2 : up the leaves from the streets and that the work would be completed within the next
<br /> 1 week.
<br /> I
<br /> I Counci-lman Stewart, reporting for the Fire and-Water Committee, stated. that
<br /> there was a request from J. F. Cramer, Superintendent of SChOOls, for the loan
<br /> or purchase of a second hand gaSOline pump that had been removed from service
<br />3 in the Fire Department and it was stored in the shop at the Fire Department at this
<br /> time. A motion was made by Stewart and seconded by Bond that this pump be offered
<br /> to the school district for the sum of $20.00. The motion was carried.
<br /> The Health Committee, Parks Committee and the Sewer Committee had no report~
<br /> Councilman Pennington at this time said that the Corr~unity Chest had designate
<br /> him to look after subscriptions to the Community Chest from the City employees.
<br />4 He stated that supplies were already on hand and that this work should be gotten
<br /> under way at an early date. He requested that the Recorder notify the heads of I
<br /> all departments to be at the Recorder's office at 1:15 P.M Wednesday, November
<br /> 25th to receive instructions and material for this work. ·
<br /> Councilman Bond, reporting for the Police Department, said that the Police
<br /> Committee had a meeting last week with the group sponsoring the new curfew law.
<br /> He said those present were Mrs. . Bonson, ILrs. Te:rry, Mrs. Fredrickson, Mrs. McCoskey,
<br />5 . IvIrs. Gallup, Professor Leeper, Professor Bee, and Al Dietz, Juvenile Officer. He
<br /> : said they had a long disc~ssion lasting two or three hours but that there was
<br /> no report to be made at this time. He said there was another meeting held at the
<br /> Osbourn Hotel since the meeting with the Police Committee but he had no report on
<br /> ; that meeting.
<br /> ! A letter from the Board of Appeals was read at this time.

<br /> i '.7 "A request has been received from the Pacific Fruit and Produce Company,
<br /> I asking permission to remove that port~on of a new chimney which will obstruct
<br /> ! their loading platform and support that pIDrtion of the chimney on the floor-
<br /> which runs through the office room. The Board recommends that this-request
<br />6 be granted, under the supervision of the Building Insp.
<br /> ,A request has been received from Mrs. A. Ezell aSking for a permit to
<br /> enlarge her "Serve Yourself Laundry" at 1255~ Pearl Street. The Board
<br /> recommends that Mrs. Ezell be granted a permit to erect an addition on the
<br /> south side of the present building."
