He stated he did not <br />i: think this condition could be cured until arrangements were made for an employee <br />t to live up there. Mr. Barette also stated that some tables had been destroyed, <br />U and they would need some new planks to make repairs. He also stated arrangements <br />13:: had been made for fixing the roof on the Communi ty House back of ~kinner' s <br />i: Butte for $10.00. Councilman Stewart stated it seemed as though ,the City would <br />i have to expect some damages to materials in the parks as the same conditions <br />\~ prevailea in the state parks fixed up by the CCC and he thought repairs should <br />I: be made in Hendricks Park to put things in good condition. Councilman Hawn <br />i.1 stated that owing to the shortage of gasoline .tha t the facilities in Hendricks <br />ii Park would be needed more than ,ever, this summer and repairs should be made at an <br />!,~ ,early date. Councilman Koppe suggested it might be well to put up some posters <br />I: that pointed out that better care should be taken of park facilities. <br />'I <br />il Councilman Davis~: reporting for the Sewer Committee, sta ted he had had requests <br />': to buy what is known as the Heckathorn house on the sewage disposal property on <br />I Ii north Polk Street. He said it had been his understanding, the City did not care <br />14f to dispose of this property as they had eipected to use ~t for a caretaker later <br />;1 on. It was suggested that the house was worth in the ne~ghborhood of $1,000.00 to <br />Iii $1,200.00, and that it might be well to dispose of the hous'e at that kind of a <br />:i figure. The matter was referred to the Sewer Committee to report back to the <br />I:! Council. <br /> <br />j; Councilman Hawn, reporting for the Police Committee, stated there was a <br />I <br />il request fr,om. Ralph Edwin Matson for a transfer of a Package Store Class "A" Beer <br />1511 License from Elsie Erlandson at 395 West 11th, known as the Lawrence Street <br />;' Grocery. He stat.ed Mr.' Matson was a brother of the present Mayor of Marshfield and <br />:' was a reliable party and he was making a motion that this tranfer be recommended. <br />~; This moti on was seconded by Koppe and on vote carried. <br />!I <br />I: Mr. Hawn also stated there was a request from Fred E. Welch for a tran~fer of <br />I' a- Class "E" Retail Beer License from Earl Simmons at 42 West 8th Avenue. He <br />;: stated he was not prepared to make a recommendation regarding this application and <br />l6l! unless the Council wished to settle the matter at this time he would like to see <br />II it referred to the Police Committee. It was pointed out that this Mr. Welch was <br />11 one of the Welch's the. t had been refused a license at 47 East 7th Avenue earlier <br />.; <br />'I' in the year. A motion was made ,by Stewart and seconded by Barette that this request <br />1 of Mr. Welch's be not recommended. On'vote the motion was carried. <br />I! <br />Ii Councilman Hawn stated he had had further requests from the nursery, school <br />!l at 11th and Pearl regarding parking facilities. He stated it was just across <br />17 j: the street from the 1imi ted parking zone and he felt some arrangements should be <br />I;; made for limited parking in front of this school. After some discussion the matter <br />ii was referred to the Police Committee, to investigate and report back at the next <br />~ meeting. - .'- <br /> <br />Ii Councilman Hawn said he had a request from the Oregonian Agency at 684 Olive <br />Ii that a bicycle rack be placed in front of the ir place. He said this rack would <br />18,'i accomodate the delivery boys and keep their bicycles off the street. A motion <br />I' i.I, was made by Hawn and seconded by Davis that a bicycle rack be pIa ced a t this <br />~ address.
