<br />I three visitsm the City jail. There was some discussion as to whether this kind
<br />,I of work should- be performed by the Health Doctor or in case he was not available,
<br />I 301 that he should make arrangements fOD somebody to take care of this work. ~
<br />, i; Councilman Brownson stated he did not feel that this kind of work was a duty of 0
<br />-- II the Health Doctor -and a motion was made by Hawn and seconded by Brownson that the ~
<br />11 bill be paid, was carried. ::>

<br />i: budget for the Juvenile Officer al?-d the County Health Department was read. On
<br />" motion the resolution was adopted and a copy of this resolution ordered sent to

<br />Ii WHEREAS, in its cur;e~t-bUdge~,-the-C~ty of Eugene has
<br />:1",' appropriated one, -thousand Dollars to be used in conjunctio, n, with
<br />: Lane County in support of a Juvenile Officer this being $500.00
<br />11 more than was budgeted for the previous year, and
<br />i; WHEREAS, in the current budget the City of Eugene has app-
<br />3411 ropriated $1,800.00 to aid"the County in the support of a Health
<br />Ii Departmen t being $800.00 in addition t the former budget of $
<br />:! $1,000.00., and '
<br />II ,WHEREAS, the City of Eugene has budgeted these contributions
<br />I:! in response to urgent juvenile and health needs arising largely
<br />I through the conntry being at Viar ,and for the purpose of bridging
<br />~ over an acute crisis, and
<br />!i WHEREAS the City recognizes that the people of Eugene make
<br />I~ : their contribution directly as tax-payers to the County Budget
<br />il ' and should not be again called upon to contribute through the
<br />~1 Ci ty Budget to items they have al ready paid taxes in support of,
<br />I Now Therefore,
<br />Ii! BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Eugene that
<br />I'! a record be made o~ the si tua tion ou ~ of which teese approp~ia tions
<br />;,; arose and tha t it ~s the recommendat~on of the Common Counc~l to
<br />!I whomsoever shall cons ti tute the Common Council a t the time of the
<br />r formation of the 1944-1945 budget and to the Budget Committee of the
<br />1: City engaged in the formation of such budget that these appropriations
<br />Ii were made in response to an urgent crisis and should not be again
<br />I j\ placed in the Uity Budget for the various reasons set out above.
<br />
<br />~ The Recorder was authorized to call for bids for the audit for the fiscal
<br />3511 year 1943-1944, and tha t a provision be placed in the advertisement to read that
<br />f final reports were to be made within 60 days after the close of the fiscal year.
