He -1 16 I stated that Mr. Good had previouslyworkea for the fire department for six months and had left to go deep-sea-fishing fo~ about thr~e mQnths and that I I lie went 'back with the Fire Department on Nove~ber 1st, a~d had requested that I I he be granted his raise in sal~ry.as if he haq beem employed for the full nine I months. It was the recommendation of the Cou~cil that Mr. Good would have to I work for the additional three months before r~ceiving the regular salary for i ~he nine-months employee. I I , I Councilman Baker stated that he wisheq to report that they did not 17 intend to deroof the Comfort Station pe~manen~ly and that the roof had been left open to find out if there were any more ~eaks and th~t the tile would be replaced at an early date. , , . Councilman Barette reporting for the iarks stated that L~ D. Smith, 167 Adams Street has beem paturing his cow in,Sladdens ~ark and that there were others using'the park. Mr. Barette explained the park was full of weeds and brush and Mr. ~mith had said that he was ~illing to clean up the park,. with 18 tne understanding that he was to have the exclusive use of the park. as he wished to pasture his cow there. The motion was mad~ by Farrington and secondeddby I Barrette that Mr. Smith.be given the exclusive use of the ,park with the under- 'I standihg that he keep it up. This provision ~o be good only as long as the City wishes to grant it. . . '~I 21 The following departmental reports were read and ordered placed on file; Police Department, Eugene Water Board, Police Matron and Engineer Department. ! . , A letter from the Board of Appeals was read regarding constructing a 22 : burner for planer shavings, just G~nside the City limits. The planing mill is located just outsdie the City limits, owned by G. E. Owen Lumber Company This letter was received by the Board of Appeals too late to make a report. to the Council. The matter was referred back to the Board of Appeals to i report to the next Council meeting. , , An ordinance levying' an assessment of $115.68 for the south side of I I , , west Broadway and east side of Polk Street for the north 100 feet of lot 1, ! in block 2, of Lill's AdditiDn, was read the first. time and passed to the 23 : second and third readings b1 unanimous consent of the Council by title under I suspensimn of the rules and was placed for final passage.
