The meeting was called to order by Mayor Large. All i';: I Councllmen present. ~: .1 Ii COMlVITTTEE REPORTS: I: Judiciary Committee-no report II ~: Finance Committee reported on property offers as follows: :1 , E. P. Sharp offers $125.00 cash for the house at 974 Taylor Street 1 1 and will move it outside the city limits within 30 days. Offer rejected. i i Mrs. I. M. Weber submitted an offer of $160.00 cash for the house at 2 ~ 974 Taylor Street and will ~ore it within 30 days, outside the city : limits if offer is accepted. , Offer rejected. I,; F. M. BonHett submitted an offer for client Harold Parmenter-$500. 00 i: cash for the east ~ of 10ts:Ll and - 2 in block 4, :Maplecroft Addition. 3 I: (South side, 22nd. 67.5 feet east of McMillan Street.) ~ Appraisal: $850.00 ~ Hold for appraised value ~ M. E. Damewood and W. H. Damewood submitted an offer of $100.00 for lots 9, 10. and 11, block 30, Driverton Addition. (N.E~:.comer 4 23rd and Hilyard Streets). This was held from the Council meeting 12-13-43 5 1 for the Engineer to see if he could reach the Sewer. ~ Offer Accepted: with understanding no sewer right-bf-way be given. I: 11 Thomas A. Grant submitted an offer 12-13-43" for $1300.00 for parts ~ of lots 5 and 6, block 10, Scotts Addition, was acceRted. i: Fred Carlson, former owner wishes to redeem this for wl007. 97 this I'.' includes interest to 12-31-43. Will pay $207.97 cash and the balance : at $25.00 per month plus interest at 6%. 6 I: " It was the recommendation of the Finance Commi ttee that ~ Mr. Carlson be allowed to redeem this property, at the price of Ii $1007.97 as of December 31,1943, with the understanding that the i first payments are to be applied on the accrued interest until the I! accrued interest has been paid up. After which the payments of $25.00 ~ shall be applied on the unpaid balance of principal. II On motion made, seconded and carried the recommendation of the Finance ,~! Commi ttee was adopted. ~: f: Health Committee, no report. i1 Parks and Sewer Comilli ttees, no report. '! Iii: Councilman Hawn reporting for the Police Department asked for another ! two weeks before making a report regarding the traffic hazard at 13th and ~ Charnelton. Councilman Hawn brought up the subject of licensing of bicycles i for the year 1944. He stated that the licensing of bicycles had been adopted 7 f': for two reason, for regulation and for assisting the Police Department in ~ recovering stolen bicycles. He stated,that the licensing of bicycles was no ~ assistance to the Police ip recovering stolen bicycles and that it was the I'i recomm~ndation that hte licensing for .1944 be discontinued. There was some r little discussion regarding this and the matter was referred back for a ,~ decision to be made at the next Council meeting. ' 'I !~ Councilman Hawn also stated that the Humane Society was being paid I' 1..1 monthly in advance. He stated that. the Council has agreed to underwrite the ' 'I IIi Hwnane Siciety for the sum of $3,000.00 for the fiscal year 1943-1944 but that i revenue obtained by the Humane Society; from other sources was to de ifileducted 8 r from the $3,000.00.
