<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, 'that there
<br />is hereby transmitted to the Planning Commission of the City of Eugene, a
<br />proposal to change the classification of the following described property, to-
<br />wit:

<br />Beginning at the intersection of the west line of Oak street with
<br />the north line of 13th street, in ,the City of Eugene; and running
<br />thence North along the west line of Oak street, 80 feet, thence
<br />west parallel with the north line of 13th street 161 feet to the
<br />alley, thence south along the east side of the alley 80 feet to
<br />the North . line of 13th street, and thence,- east 161 feet to the'
<br />place of beginning; in the City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon,
<br />
<br />from a multiple family, or apartment zone to a business zone.
<br />
<br />and directing the Planning Commission to adopt a tentative report,;: and
<br />to hold a hearing thereon in the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City
<br />of Eugene, on Monday the 29th day of May, 1944, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. after
<br />giving due notice by publication once in the Eugene Register Guard, and they
<br />shall thereafter make a final report and transmit the same to the Council with
<br />their recommendation.

<br />On motion made, seconded and carried this resolution be adopted.
<br />
<br />A letter from the City Board of Health addressed to the Mayor and
<br />Council was read. This was a letter of resignation of all of the members of
<br />the City Board of Health, veing signed by Doctors, I. M.Fox, Glenn S. Morgan,
<br />Fred L. Miller, J. L. Hesse and by Winsor Calkins. A motion was made by Farr-
<br />ington and seconded by Barette that the resignation be accepted and that the
<br />Council e tend them a vote of thanks and appreciation for their services rend-
<br />ered. Councilman Hawn raised the question that if this board was dissolved
<br />who would be in a position to act in case of an emergency. He stated he felt
<br />that there should be some Board of Health and Councilman Davis stated he belei-
<br />ved the matter should be held over. Councilman Farrington and Barette stated
<br />that they would withdraw the motion and the matter was referred to the Council
<br />Health Committee to contact the Board of Health in an effort to get them to
<br />w~thdraw their resignations. '

<br />A letter from the Nelson Equipment Company, with a questionaire attached
<br />regarding postwar: street construction was read and the City EBgmneer was inst-
<br />ructed to fill out the questionaire. .
<br />
<br />A letter from the Blue Bird Packing,Co., and D. and E. Storage commenting
<br />on the gODd work being done by the Rodent Control program was read and Mayor
<br />Large stated that he had r-eceived a similiar letter from the Farmers Creamery.

<br />Councilman Barette at this time stated he had investigated the garbage
<br />on the parking strips ~est ~f Hilyard on 19th. That the people across the
<br />street had taken this garbage from their garden and that they had promised
<br />to have this cleaned up. That there was a tree at 672 Jefferson that caused
<br />a rise in the driveway of about 3 inches above the side-walk and that this
<br />would have to be taken out. The matter of garbage at 565 Fourth street was
<br />referred to the Health Department for attention. He stated that the rubbish
<br />that had been placed on the street at 4th and Polk would have to be taken care
<br />of by the Street Department. He stated that he thcught something should be
<br />done to stop people from dumping rubbish in the parking and in the streets.
<br />
<br />Mayor Large asked if the insurance survey promised by Smith-Crakes had
<br />been made and stated that the insurance policies had been out of the Recorder<ls
<br />office since March 30th. That there had been no survey turned in and the
<br />Recorder was instructed to contact Smith-Crakes regarding the survey 'and request
<br />the return of the insurance policies.
