<br /> An election having been held known as the Westmoreland Annexation election

<br /> I on December 20, 1944 and the statute having provided that the Common Council
<br /> I
<br /> I
<br /> shall meet on Monday, next succeeding the day of such election at 1 o'clock
<br /> p.m. and proceed to canvass the votes cast thereat, and'
<br /> Whereas, the Monday next succeeding the election was Christmas Day, and
<br /> i
<br /> ! a holiday and no quorom of the Council could be obtained,
<br /> Therefore,
<br /> I A meeting of the Common Council was held on Tuesday, December 26, 1944 at
<br /> i
<br /> I 1 o'clock p.m. that being the first business day after Monday, December 25, 1944
<br /> I
<br /> ! to canvass the votes of the westmoreland Annexation Election.
<br /> I
<br /> i Councilmen present were A. C. Farrington, Louis Koppe~ E. A. Barette, Ira
<br /> O. Stewart, Edward F. Bailey, A. ~. Hawn, and W. L. Davis. Councilman absent,
<br /> Calvin Crumbaker.
<br /> Councilman Farrington, the pres~dent of the Council"presided.
<br /> The Council then proceeded first to canvass the votes cast in Westmoreland
<br /> ! precinct and next proceeded to count the votes in the City of Eugene both as td I
<br /> i
<br /> I Westmoreland precinct and as to the annexation of the Old City Airpor~.
<br /> I
<br /> I
<br /> The canvass of the tally sheets showed the following results, to-wit:

<br /> Thereupon a motion was made by Councilman Hawn and seconded by Councilman
<br /> Koppe that the Westmoreland Territory and the Old City Airport be declared
<br /> i annexed and that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the proper resolu-
<br /> tion and that the results be transmitted to the Secretary of State. On vote I
<br /> the motion was unanimously carried. ,.
<br /> It was moved, seconded and carried that the Mayor and Recorder pro tern sign
<br /> the canvass of election returns 'on behalf of the Common Council.
<br /> On motion the Council Ajourned.
