Akin stated that he husband was in the service and was asking <br />r': ! permission for she and her 3 children to sleep in a trailer-house which was I <br />~: I rented and was placed in the drive-way of her parentss place at the above <br />;:..:...... She stated that her husband was asking for a Medical Discharge and <br />!~i that other arrangements would be made as soon as possible; that as soon as ~ <br />~i the weather permitted this trailer would be removed from the drive-way to the <br />zg. back of the lot at the above address. It was suggested that the sleeping in <br />i this trailer did not actually violate the trailer house ordinance as they were <br />: --not living in the trailer during. the, day. A motion was made by Davis and <br />: seconded by Hawn that this temporary permit for the sleeping quarters should <br />I be granted. On vote the motion was carried. <br />I <br />I <br />, <br />, On motion made by Farrington, and seconded by Hawn, the 'following resolu- <br />tion was adopted by the Council: '.,' I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an election was held in the City of Eugene and in the proposed annexeq <br />I territory upon the proposal to annex what is known as the Westmoreland Territo~y <br />: and the old City Airport which election was held on December 20, 1944, and I <br />30: WHEREAS, the Common Council has canvassed the returns of the election according <br />~ to law <br />NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Eugene that <br />the Mayor and City Recorder pro tem be and they are hereby required to prepare <br />and sign on behalf of the Common Council of the City of Eugene, the report of <br />the canvass of the Common Council of the Election returns of said special City <br />Election aforesaid. <br />, <br />, <br />Councilman Koppe reported at this time that he had been unable to gej:it. <br />.' ': a meeting with the School Board regarding the outlet for Pearl Street south of <br />i 19th and that he understood~t was the intention of the School Board to stand <br />I on previous reports. A motion was made by Councilman Koppe and sedonded by <br />, Davis that on account the ordinance which had its first reading on December ll~h <br />31; regarding the vacation of streets and alleys in the School Board and UniverstiYi <br />property south of 19th be not considered at this time. On vote the motion was <br />carried. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />i On motion made by Hawn and seconded by Farrington the following resolut~on I <br />I was adopted by the Council:' I I <br /> <br />I BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Coundil of the City of Eugene that the' City RecoDjder - <br />i be and he is hereby notified to publish notice of a proposed ordin~nceto amen~ <br />~ Ordinance No. 8514, heretofore aforesaid enacted, granting to the Oregon Electr.ic <br />32i Railway Co., a corporation, its successors and assigns, a franchise to operate <br />in the City of Eugene, by amending Section 4 of said ordinance to read as <br />follows: <br />"Section 4. The motive power employed for operating cars and loco- ~ <br />motives upon such tracts shall be electrically or electric-deisel." <br /> <br />Said Notice shall recite that the ordinance will come up for its first reading <br />at the meeting of the Common Council at the Council Chambers of the City Hall <br />-In Eugene, Oregon, at 7:30 G)'!:tflock P.,M. of January 22, 1945. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />On motion made by Farrington and seconded by Hawn, the following resol- <br />ution was adopted by the Council: . ' <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City-of-Eugene that the Mayor and <br />City Recorder be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute end <br />33: behalf of the City of Eugene tne annexed contract betwe,en the City of Eugene '10. <br />and Frank W. Scobert and Pearl V. Scobert. <br /> <br />It was suggested that the formal ceromony should be arranged for the <br />meeting January 8th for the installation of the new MaY9r and 3 new Council- <br />men. <br /> <br />On motion the Council adjourned.
